Jason, Okay this is my personal opinion......having had TMJ and had surgery to repair the joints. I think you should see an Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon. Like you said...insurance won't cover it so you might as well put your money to good use! You will probably get a bite guard and if necessary something to take the edge off the pain. Good Luck!
