: I think I might have TMJ, but I don't know who I can go to to get diagnosed. Also does getting diagnosed even help, is there anything that can cure this disorder. Heres my story:

: I have frequent migraines, I grind my teeth at night (I wear a mouth guard to protect my teeth). Most of the time my migraines come from the base of my skull (at the neck), but there is also an aching in my jaw. EVERY time I open or close my mouth my Jaw 'clicks'. My masseuse told me that I most likely have it, but she said she just got diagnosed. I don't want to be a hypocondriac, but if there is something I can do about this .... Yeah!!! I appreciate any advice...

Hi Jessica

Next time you see your dentist they can recommend a specialist. I also have that familiar 'click' and sometimes I'm even afraid that my jaw is going to lock and I won't be able to close my mouth. When I went to have my wisdom teeth pulled, the oral surgeon had to stop the procedure almost 10 times because my jaw was becoming so inflamed and sore. It was that part that was so painful and not the actual 'pulling'. Right now I don't have pain but I'm always afraid every time I yawn that my jaw will get stuck. We should both get this checked out before it gets worse or becomes painful like some of the others on this forum.
