: I'm 13 years old, and I've had TMJ since i was 10. I my whole entire jaw is displaced, my whole face is crooked, my mouth piece made my jaw hurt and feel even worse, and he continues to tell me it isn't a problem. I feel terrible because of my jaw, not only have i suffered physical pain but i have low self esteem, and believe it or not, right now i am bawling my eyes out. My teeth don't fit together, my face looks screwed up, and my jaw cracks painfully every mouth movement. I've been told there's nothing that can be done. My life is so miserable.... i hate it
Dear Noel...PLEASE have your parent(s) take you to an Oral Surgeon who had experience in TMJ. Your symptoms are NOT normal and any so called doctor who tells you there is no problem should be dumped! If you know something is not right, trust your instincts. Don't let anyone make you feel like you are crazy! At 13, you should be out having fun, not bawling because some stupid doctor doesn't know what to do! Go to TMJD.COM and post your story to one of the doctors there. They can give you the name of a good doctor in your area. If you read our stories, you will see that you are not alone!! Take care....Carole
