I just got a customized night guard/bite plate, whatever you want to call it. You said it has helped you guys in terms of pain relief, but I was wondering if it has helped anyone relax their jaw muscles to the point where they can fully open their jaw. or have you guys been able to, but with just some pain? thanks, i am hoping my night guard will enable me to open my jaw fully, since i haven't been able to for months.

: : I was diagnosed with TMJ a few months ago and was fitted for a moutpiece that I wear all the time. It made a big difference in the beginning but now some pain is returning. My doctor says that it is normal to feel some more pain on the road to recovery as the jaw is shifting. Has anyone had the same experience of felling better, then pain returning, before feeling much better?

: I have been using splints for many years. For me it has been up and down. I can go months without pain and then some huge stress comes into my life and I am back to pain. Keep following your doctor's instructions. Splints do work!!!
