: : My orthodontist is recomending I have a herbst appliance put in and then braces to help reposition my jaw. I seem to have tmj disorder due to a developmental defect in my lower jaw. Has anyone (an adult) had experience with this appliance? Did any bone growth occur? Where can I find out more about this particular treatment
Hi, I myslef am checking into the Herbst type of treatment. Of all Ive researched it seems that this is going to be the thing for me. I found alot about it from Drs and a thread posted at a website I go to alot. its www.tmjd.com, at this site there are many recognized Drs that answer these type of questions. As I said if you make it there look for a thread called "questions about the Herbst Appliance". there is very good info describing it. I wish you luck on whatever treatment you decide. -Suzy
