Kitty,I think you already know what your best advice is! If you have tried all the family's old time favorite savs and potions and you still can't wear that string bikini, then it's time for the secret weapon!!! Go to the doctor (my guess would be a dermatologist) It could be anything: -Acne -dermatitis -something contageous -your boyfriend didn't wash his hands? -allergies to the detergent used to wash. -stress -something you are eating. -the creams you use. -your higieniec habbits. -alien abductions. The only way you're going to know for sure is to "show and tell" (and I don't mean your boyfriend!) so, that leaves two options: -take a picture and post it on the internet for comments and suggestions (make sure you include a warning) -Go to your doctor and show him. (there are also "her" doctors out there). You may want to hurry a bit, those bumps could be causing irreversible scarring on your pride and joy. Good luck (let us know what she says)

Dear Kitycrys,Did you find a cure to your problem. I also have that problem. Sometimes it gets worse and I am embarrassed to show my husband my rear. Please let me know what you come up with

Hi everyone, years ago I had a boyfriend with the same kind of thing that you are all describing. If I remember right they were boils or cysts. Anyways he went to the doctor and had them drained, after that they went away. Like they said earlier it could be a number of things so your best bet would be to see a doctor, even if it is kind of embarrassing. You know that they have seen worse. good luck to you.

HEY ALL!!! you should really check with a doc and on the net for Hidradenitis Suppurativa!!! its a skin disease where your sweat glands become inflamed and infected! i have it too! i started out as boils on my arse, then it was boobs, armpits, tummy, inner thighs... men AND women get it, but it seems to be mostly women! there are some great Yahoo Clubs and Groups to learn about this disease. it has three different stages and is a heck of a lot more common that most docs think! so copy and paste the name of it into a search engine like google. if you search for it on this board, you will get a message from Countrygirl who is in one of the support groups with me! CHECK IT OUT!!!------------------ karrie 28 F Canada

The large painful bumps are called boils, or if there are a great many of them they are called carbunkles (sp?). They are caused by bacteria growing in hair follicles, I believe. Use an antibacterial on your bum after showering, everyday, and if it is very severe, use it twice a day, morn and eve. (such as Neosporin) I am sure the Dr. could give you stronger meds to apply, but this works for me. Make sure you wear fresh clothes everyday, and wash your swimming suit as well. Good luck.

I also have a problem with boils on my rear. My doc prescribed a low dose antibiotic that I take on a maintenace basis. This seems to help a LOT...I don't get them as often and they go away more quickly. You might also check with a dematologist...DO NOT try to 'drain' them yourself, it can increase and spread the infection.....

I don't have a problem with boils but I do with pimples! Sometimes it's not so bad but then all of a sudden I break out terribly in pimples just on my butt. It's very frustrating, what should I do?

Ketz77 I agree that hidradenitis superativa might be the culprit here! I have had it for many years but only diagnosed and given a name 3 yrs ago. I didn't know about the Yahoo support groups, thanks for mentioning them, I will be checking them out. There is a Canadian support group called H.I.D.E. which has a lot of information on the disorder. One can simply type in the initials h.i.d.e. into a search engine and find the page. I want to tell everyone not to play around with a site if it becomes deep purple or black in color, get to a doctor immediately! It could be developing into a deadly necrotic state. This happened to my 68 yr old mother and she died from necrotizing fasciitis also known as the flesh eating bacteria. N.F. is nothing to be ignored, as it spreads very fast and can cause death quickly if not attended to by a physician. I am not trying to be an alarmist, just trying to raise awareness of serious problems that can arise if a site becomes deep purplish or black. Know also, that this is a rare occurance with boils, to my understanding.
