Haven't posted in awhile since I haven't weighed myself but I did today and *drumroll* I'm down from my original weight about 23 pounds! I have about 10 or so more to go, I heard the last few are the hardest, anyone know about the last few? was it as hard as people say, I think that if you keep doing what you're doing the last few shouldn't be much different from earlier pounds. Good Luck to everyone!

When people say "the last 5 or 10 lbs. are the hardest", I think there is some truth in it. As your weight decreases, the amount of calories you need also decreases. Therefore, the deficit between what you eat and what you burn gets smaller. By increasing the duration and intensity of cardiovascular exercise, you can counter this. But even the body adjusts to exercise so you might need to change the type of exercise -- for example, jump roping instead of jogging on the treadmill.

Just a theory of mine, but perhaps when people get closer to their ideal weight, they get increasingly more lax about their diet.

I have a question: I start my day off with a Slimfast shake, because I too cannot "eat something" in the morning. Am I doing my metabolism more harm? I figured a shake is better than having nothing at all.

advice please...

The Slim Fast shakes are not a substitute for food. Why do so many people detest eating breakfast?

Consider this: when you wake up, your body has probably been deprived of nourishment for 10 or more hours. If you don't eat until lunch, your body runs on empty for more than half a day. This can't be healthy.

Hi everyone--just finished the first 2 Killer Weeks of Atkins diet and I only lost 8 pounds. Is this normal--how much did any of you on Atkins loose the first 2 weeks? Please someone tell me what to expect as a round figure for weekly loss? I am not going to add any more carbs for a few weeks--is that ok? I walk , drink tons of water and am praying I look better for Christmas. 180 and 5'6 My goal is 145
