I just invested (yes, invested. The stuff was $20) in Oil of Olay total effects after hearing some good reviews on this board. I used it the other night and my face looked really great. However, I broke out the following day. I really hope it's not the cause of it (I'm on the monthly so that may very well be what caused the slight break out).

Anyone else use this product? How do you like it? Did it ever break you out? How is it on scars?

It isn't designed to "do" anything for scars.

I've used it, (yes it's expensive) - but it's never caused me to break out. I've broken out while using it before, (like when I'm on my period) but it's never actually "caused" me to break out. In fact, it's improved the look of my skin more than almost anything else I've used.

My best combination was that in conjunction with MD Forte III cream.

It will probably help your skin feel and look better but remember, it's a moisturizer, it is not an "acne cream," per se, and it isn't formulated to have a specific impact on acne or acne scars.

I think we're all still on the search for that cure, big time!

Thanks for your reply.

It seems every moisturizer I have used that is supposed to help acne has made it worse. I tried using neutrogena w/ salicylic acid and it made me so dry and wreaked havoc on my skin.

I think I like Oil of Olay even though I'm just 23. And isn't it made to reduce signs of aging?

i had a bad really bad bout of acne before and it left me with red marks. i used total effects and it cleared me of all of them.

it isn't an acne cream per se, but perhaps because it improved the overall health of my skin, the marks completely vanished!

i never broke out from using it.

i've been using Oil of Olay Sensitive Skin Lotion because it's only 6 bucks....reminiscing about how great Total Effects is makes me want to go out and spend the $20!!!!

My grandma uses it, and she has beautiful skin. She is 82. What is the difference between the sensitive skin and the total effects?

When I used the sensitive skin, I broke out! But total effects has been great. It never has interfered with my skin. If I great breakouts or flareups it is always because of other things.

My mom has used oil of olay products since she was young and she has totally, completely, and entirely FLAWLESS skin. She's in her 60s and has the skin of a 20 year old....she doesn't even have pores, I swear!

Anyway, I've bounced across the board with trying new things, never satisfied, but I keep coming back to oil of olay products, and now with Total Effects, I've found the best moisturizer.

As I said, I tried the one that has no dyes or perfume in it, for sensitive skin, and it caused me to break out. I tried Dove soap for sensitive skin too, and I broke out horribly. Now I use either Dial soap antibacterial or Dove plain regular soap (the kind with the perfume), and my skin feels so much better.

I don't have much luck with direct acne products it seems.

i've been looking for something to fade the redness on my face. recently i started using aloe vera gel because i've read that works, but maybe i should try this total effects stuff. as a moisterizer, does it leave your face looking shiney, or feeling greasy? i always seem to have that problem with moisterizers (except the aloe vera)

Olay Total effects is the nectar from gods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought it and it is amazing how much it helped my complexion. It is great, the best mosturizer I have ever used. I also use a combination of Kojic acid, AHA and green tea to fade my red marks and it is doing great. And no, Olay does not break me out! Very rarely!

Merrida - you mentioned that when you use the one for sensitive skin, you broke out. I noticed this as well, and my derm said that the sensitive skin formula was very comodegenic.

I used to use total effects (my skin used to flake very badly in the winter) and I liked it too.

Sparkle, yes, isn't that the strangest thing? Whenever I use "sensitive skin" anything it seems to radically irritate my skin. I kept trying, though, (either out of desperation, stupidity, or a combination of both) -- determined that if it was for "sensitive skin" then by default it "must" be better and safer, and I kept thinking maybe "this time" was just a fluke, and "next time" I'll see the benefits,....

Uh huhh, yah right!

So I went back to regular oil of olay, and it was fine. When Total Effects came out I tried it. Actually another trainer at the gym who is around my age (in her 40's) and one time I saw her and remarked on how DIFFERENT and radiant her skin looked. (I thought maybe she got a peel or something, because it was that different!) So she showed me what she was using, and said she had been using that, and it really worked. So I went out and got it and have been using it ever since.

It is expensive, yes, but it's by far one of the best moisturizers ever. I also have that problem where most moisturizers make my face look greasy (even when it's dry and flaky, it's combination, so it can be greasy AND still dry and flaky), with or without makeup, but with Oil of Olay it doesn't do that.

Final note: Even though it's expensive, you don't use much so it lasts.

for some reason, while my skin has been break out free the last couple weeks..i've noticed that my pores look bigger and clogged (not like a blackhead for certain, just dark).

the only thing i can figure that is causing it is the Oil of Olay sensitive skin lotion. it made my skin feel really soft and beautiful at first, yet it's the only new product i've incorported.

the reason i bought it was because i was too cheap to shell out the 20 for Total Effects.

after reading what several people posted about believing the Sensitive Skin Lotion to be comodegenic, i decided enough's enough.

i already know that Total Effects is worth every cent...i had to go out and buy it today!

the best part is, i spent the money, got a product that i know works.....and it came with a free gift: body cream!

I just ordered this stuff. I want old red marks to LEAVE and I want to have an even skin tone. Skinculture peel didn't make my face look ANY different. I still have some peeling to do though....maybe I will see a difference soon.

I use the oil of olay total effects in the small jar w/ pump. It was close to $20. I believe the exact price was $17.99.

DAMN, I love this stuff!!! I've been using it for about a week now and don't know how I went w/ out it. I washed my face the other day and just put the Oil of Olay on afterwards and my other half complimented my skin for the first time since my skin broke out all to hell. And he never notices anything. He said my face looked really clear and so healthy! Of course, I have to give credit to my regime... b5, vitamins a, c, e, b complex, efa supplement, 64 oz water, carley's clear and smooth and clindamycin topical. BUT the oil of olay really makes my skin glow. And my skin hasn't glowed in loooong time.

It's worth the $20. I hope it also helps my skin not to age.

Can SOMEONE, ANYONE please let me know which exact Oil of Olay Total Effect moisturizer you are talking about. I went to look today at Walmart, and I saw 4 or 5 different types.

On a side note, I noticed that my skin only gets oily on days that I apply my moisturizer. Do you think this is moisturizer specific (Neutrogena) or will happen to me, no matter which moisturizer I apply?

But what about the UV protection? It's funny how so many people are hyping it up, but nobody will mention specifically which one they are talking about.

I've been using the total effects intensive treatment (it's oil/fragrance free) for about a week now. I'm going on accutane b/c my skin looks like poo but i can say that the moisturizer has definitely helped...i think because it has B5 in it.
