Avoid fried foods, butter, cheeses, whole milk, ice cream, rich salad dressings, chocolate, fatty meats, anything from cocoa or coffee beans, other stimulants, sweets and processed nut products.

The more processed food is, the worse it is for your skin. Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can, but you should still allow yourself to eat a few sweets here and there; just limit it.

As to whether taking a multivitamin daily will help - I'm not sure. I take a multivitamin daily, but I don't know if there's really that much of a difference in my skin or not. But, I can tell you that drinking lots of water will definitely help.

yeah rite.
food doesn't cause acne.

maybe u should try eating mcdonalds 24/7 and see what happens.

hey! maybe acne will be cured by eating more junk food. try it! it may be the cure!

I think different people have different trigger foods. My sister claims if she eats chocolate she can feel her face breaking out almost before she swallows. My acne does not seem to be related to what I eat in any way. Eating fried food one day and all healthy the next doesn't seem to matter for me. But I do think that it is a factor for some people.

food doesnt cause acne unless you are malnourished or you have allergies to certain foods......./ of course eating mcdonalds 24/7 wont be good for your skin because you are not providing all the vitamins and other things you need to be healthy. i think the reason that sometimes things like eating too much chocolate get a reputation for causing acne is because you usually do things like that when you are stressed or depressed.....and thats what really causes the acne (for alot of people anyway-stress is a trigger). but, who knows, maybe they will find out later on that in women chocolate ****s with more hormones then in men and thats why women tend to break out from it. if you notice breakouts that occurr after you eat alot of a certain food and you werent particulary stressed out, you should take note of it because maybe you have an allergy. Needless to say, it is of course better for your skin if you try to eat a semi balanced diet with fruit and veggies, and do not consume large amounts of processed crap, sugars, and caffeine. In addition to this, try to avoid alot of soda even if it is diet. and , I will also add, if you tend to eat alot meat they say that it can make the complexion ashen colored.......

LET'S FACE IT: NO FATTY FOOD CAUSES ACNE!!!! Sometimes people are eating at McDonald's every day and their face looks perfect. The cause may be hormones or whatever but not food. Anyways it's for sure good to eat fruits, veggies and oat-made stuff also drink water to clean your body inside (like u flush the toilet to clean it, hahaha JK)

simple sugars and iodized salts can increase inflammation of the skin so i try to stay away from anything with these things in them. the salt part is hard though. salt is in everything!!!
but there are lots of foods that are good for ur skin...like avocoados, leafy greens like spinach, squash, etc.....

do you know what our problem is? we all spend too much time analysing what we eat. i remember for one year i completely stopped eating all dairy products, chocolates, sweets etc and my acne was no better for it if anything i was unhealthy and i lost too much weight. since then i eat what i want when i want and my skin is 10 times better. i believe that certain foods we may be allergic to but if that is the case i would recommend keeping a diary and cataloguing what foods eaten over a period of time cause you to breakout and get tested for food allergy by a doctor. i used to treat my face completely different to the rest of my skin i was too scared to touch it put creams on it because you convince yourself your gonna make the infection worse or your face is gonna break out. we're not aliens we're normal people and in my opinion yes we can eat a lot of these foods. i remember when i would eat a chocolate bar and if the next day i had spot(s) i would convince myself that was the reason and it's not. there are people in this world that don't have acne, don't pay a second thought to their face and eat what they want and guess what their the people with near perfect skin. i used all of these products which claimed they would clear up your acne and you would think with that we'd all have great skin. my mum once said to me 'you use all of these products and your skin looks bad, unhealthy' and you think what are we doing this to ourselves for?

sorry for sounding off but i hate to see people doing this to themselves and punishing themselves by not eating normal food. live for today you only have one shot at life so don't deny yourself of these things.

good luck

It all depends on your genes. Some people will break out from eating a bag of chips, and others will continue having perfectly clear skin. Of course, there are also those, who no matter what they eat, (even if it's the most healthiest foods) will continue to have a face full of pimples. Why? Because of their genes. Those people need some other method than trying only to eat better foods (Such as, getting Accutane or whatever other pills are out there).

I always thought it seemed like like I'd get big cysts a few days after eating "gummy" food - licorice, swedish fish, gummy worms. Also, up until about 3 weeks ago, I'd drink about 1 Dr. Pepper a day, I haven't had any pop since, and although there isn't a HUGE difference, I can tell my face is clearing up a bit. Pop has got to be the worst thing you can drink for you body's sake as a whole - fattening, might make acne worse, bad for your teeth. I have really found a new love for water.

I agree, food doesn't cause acne unless it is something you are allergic or sensitive to. I found a list of some common foods people are allergic to, and react to via breakouts, and discovered that indeed, broccoli was the culprit.

I am with ya Ric. I did the same thing, cut out all the 'bad' foods I liked, and stressed even over the ones I didn't know if they were "good" or not. And I would stress about having to eat out with friends and family, since I was limiting myself so much.

Notice the key word there...STRESS. It's the stress that breaks me out, not the food. I STRESSED over it, and that's what causes my problem. When I stress (which is a lot lately), my hormones must go nuts, and I break out bad. I have to work on controlling that.

I am starting to ENJOY the foods I want, in moderation of course (for overall health).

Unless you are ALLERGIC to the food, and eat a balanced diet, I don't think food is causing it for anyone.
