I'm 16 now.. I started getting acne when I was 14.. big nasty gross pimples with 'stuff' in them. My doctor first prescribed me Benzamycin... it was this awful smelling gel crap that you had to keep in the fridge, and put on every night and morning.. it also bleached the color from any fabric it got on.. I realized this when the collar on all my t-shirts started turning pink/yellow (I'd swear in gym class, and wipe it off with the top of my tshirt) Anyways... It didn't do anything for the first 3 months, then kicked in... My acne was getting better.. but if I ever didn't put it on for a day/two, I would get a new pimple! About a year ago, the same doctor decided to put me on Clindoxyl... he said it was basically the same stuff as benzamycin, but newer, and with a different type of antibiotic-- it meant that I didn't have to keep it in the fridge, and it was pre-mixed by the manufacturer, and the pharmacist wouldn't have to mix it like the benzamycin (they would never mix it right, it and it would be all chunky/clumpy).. He also prescribed t-stat, which are just like supercharged Oxy Pads... Anyways.. for the last 8 months I've been: 1. Washing my face in the shower every morning with St. Ives apricot scrub.. it is kind of rough feeling, but it gets all the dead skin off of your face, and makes it sooooo smooth I know it sounds like a lot... but it takes under 10 extra minutes a day to do all of this.. and I've been acne free for the last 3 months... no pimples, no nothing... I also sometimes put Jamieson Vitamin E Cream on areas where I have dark spots left over from pimples.. it seems to help them get lighter... My family doesn't have any sort of 'health plan' dealie, so we pay everything in full =\ I know though, if you have a health plan, the clindoxly is substantially cheaper... $40+tax (canadian) for a 30 day supply... but my sister in university has some sort of health coverage through her university, and she only plays $10 for it... the t-stat is only $20 for 60 pads (two month supply)

They're called 'T-Stat Moistened Pads' They're basically like Oxy pads.. A thin wet 'pad' that you rub on your face... at first your face looks all wet and oily, but after a few minutes it disappears and you can't tell it's on.

That sounds great! I should try some of that because even though my face has cleared up a great deal, I still get zits a lot, although not as often. And you don't have like any little zits or anything? ------------------ I haven't failed. I have simply found 1,000,000 ways that haven't worked. IP: Logged |

nope, none at all ![]() well, I get on occaional once.. maybe once a month :P but they're not big nasty ones.. usually just red bumps that aren't very noticeable... Although, I don't know when I'll ever be able to STOP using clindoxyl :P my sister had been taking it for the same amount of time as me, and she didn't take it for a week when she was gone away, and her face broke out! =\ IP: Logged |
