I'd like to hear some success stories of people that have taken Accutane to help me stay positive...i'm really hoping that Accutane will work for me.....please send me your thoughts!!

Yeah - pretty much everyone who has ever taken the drug. Unfortunately, the people with the bad experiences are sometimes the ONLY experiences we get to hear, because the ones who cleared their skin up just want to FORGET acne and visiting an acne message board is probably the last thing on their mind. I definitely can't blame them...

Wierd coincidence that you just posted that message! I never come here anymore but just decided to check it out today for some reason. I just posted below your message. The answer to your question is YES! There are a lot of people with clear or almost clear skin who took Accutane. And it's true that mostly everyone who had success with it stays away from the acne boards!

Put it this way I am starting my accutane course in 1 week. I will be posting my experiences while on the drug but if my skin is clear you wont hear from me again at the end of the course.
I presume it it liks that with most people.

accutane works great...

i rarely post now that my acne is gone... or even read the posts.... coz i know that the ONLY thing that has worked for ME is accutane.. so reading other things on b5, drinking water, and other methods don't interest me no more...

p.s i had to use accutane twice

I took Accutane way back in the 80's, right after it was approved for use by the FDA. It worked well for me in getting rid of the visible cystic acne lesions. Unfortunately I still had many lesions underneath the skin. I didn't know that these cysts were underneath my skin until I had a dermabrasion. The doctor took off the top layers of skin and found a mess of cysts underneath. I probably should have taken a second round of Accutane a year or 2 after the first but I didn't know and the doctors never suggested it.

The good results from Accutane lasted about 15 years. Then after having 2 kids and becoming hypothyroid, I started breaking out again. I tried another round of Accutane but had to stop due to vision problems. I now take spiro and it is working great for me.

The one thing you need to be aware of is the long term effects of Accutane. I now have severe arthritic type joint pain and ringing in my ears. I can't be 100% certain that these are side effects of Accutane, but because others have reported the same problems, I can't help but think that they are related.

I hope Accutane works for you, but I also wish the drug companies and researchers would devote the effort to finding a less toxic solution.

Accutane helped my teen's skin. Be patient. It takes a good 6 months and the side effects are sometimes a problem. Very dry lips. But it helps. My daughter had to go on two cycles. 6 months at a time, but it really helped. I wish it had been around years ago when I was a teen. I would not have had the scarring I have now.
