Since I'm shunning the sun now, I've decided to try a self tanner. i got some Clarins Gel for my body? but how do I get my face to match? Is there something for the face that wont cause break outs or irritation? I've never tried bronzer before. Is it hard to apply?

I used to work for Estee' Lauder, and their facial self-tanners are wonderful! I believe their "Go Bronze" is oil free, and if you do experience break outs, they stand by their products and you can return it for a full refund. The only drawback to facial self- tanners is that you have to be careful applying it on acne because it may actually darken pimples, making them appear more prominent. You also need to make sure you exfoliate before applying. Lancome' is good too, they (i know for sure) have a facial gel "flash" bronzer that is oil free also. (not sure on their refund policy.)

HI! I am glad someone brought up this topic! I was wondering what would happen if you use self tanner on your face and then later use topical meds for your acne. I know that BPO can be bleaching but what about the retinoids out there? If you spot treat using these products, you may screw up the fake tan! Does anyone have any advice with this?
By the way, I use Neutrogena Instant Bronze. I think you will have to try a few products out because a tanner will give a different result for each person. What works well on me may be not so great for you. But I heard Estee Lauder is pretty good too! The only drawback is that it is a bit more costly but definitely worth it if it gives the best result for your skin!

I use Clarins on my face as well. When I first started working in television, everyone was raving about it. So, I got me some and love it! Most of the people I know who are in television use it to add some color to their face. (It was also just rated the best sunless tanner for face and body by "InStyle" magazine.) It has never broke me out.
Also, someone did bring up a good point about using acne medications with a sunless tanner. I am on Retin-A Micro (I don't have ance, it's to just keep my skin looking good.) Retin-A's job is to keep renewing your skin. This means, peeling off the older, outer layers -- which means peeling off your sunless tanner quicker.
This is what I do that works well for me... If I have a shoot the next day where I want some "fake sun"... I won't use my Retin-A the night before. I will just use the sunless tanner (Clarins). I can tell that it lasts for about a day. I do use the Retin-A again that night, after my shoot.
I hope that helps some...

Emma,

I'm actually from the States but I moved to Austria this year for a job. Yeah I want to use the self tanner on my face too but I just think it spells trouble. Have you ever tried a bronzer. Does it actually look like a tan?

Hi
I want to move to Europe for a bit, that would be great!

I have used bronzer. You have to get a fairly decent one, and application is important...if you put on too much you look dirty.

Hi
I am confused. What is the difference between bronzer and self tanner? I thought they are the same?

A bronzer is just a dark colored powder that you brush on and then wash off at night with the rest of your make up.
