Hi guys! I used to read this board when I was feeling just SICK of my face, and then I wouldn't feel so alone! Seemed like I was always the only one with acne in my TOWN!! Geez! I had BAD acne... and when I say bad, I mean, acne covered my jaw from cheekbone down; big red zits. I was fortunate that it wasn't all around my lips or nose, but it covered both cheeks and forehead. Well, I tried Proactive, Store-bought stuff, Hydrogen Peroxide, Alcohol and on and on (excepting drugs, I was too afraid to try them)... Well, I found the cure for myself, I bought "Acne Treatment Gel" from my local MARY KAY dealer, and began using it... Within a week or two, I could see that this was IT!!! Just applying it morning and night after washing and that's it! I am happy to say that I just kept clearing until all I have are fastly fading scars (and some small pitting, which it also tightening), easily covered my a bit of makeup. I am ESTATIC and I praise God everytime I look in the mirror, because my features have always been pretty and I felt acne marred them. I suffered from acne for 10 years!!! And now... I just can't express it! I know that just one cure does not work for everyone, but I am praying that this will help some of you!!!

Much Love for You!

Congrats. You're very lucky to have found this. Too bad even if I get my face cleared up, I'm still going to be ugly.

Congratulations! I'm happy for you.

Before you all go out and order Mary Kay, unless this has been reformulated, it is just basically another benzoyl peroxide cream. I used to sell it myself, but it is really no different from Oxy, or any others, except maybe a slightly lower strength than some.

Yes, the tried and true for most of us--BP has been the best thing for my skin so far.

Did it clear you up 100% or do you still have a few pimples or occasional breakout? Does it get rid of clogged bumpy pores also?

To the interested... Like I wrote before, what works for some like a charm might do absolutely nothing for others. All I know is, I had tried that over-the-counter stuff, including Oxy and other benzoyl products, but nothing ever worked like this. I can only figure that it's a higher dose of benzoyl in a better formula. It's a small long tube of a creme that lasts for a long time, because you use it sparingly... Only $8, which I still can't believe!!

It got rid of everything gross in my face, from huge lumpy 'chains' of blazing zits to the blackheads. I'm still amazed by how quickly 10 years of serious heartache was ended so quickly!! If it worked for me, there have to be others it can work for and that's why I posted about it. To share something that might work for you too!

It's actually a lower dose of BP than my Oxy, but that is not to criticize Mary Kay in the least. In fact, my point that I even sold Mary Kay was to confirm that it is overall a very good line of skin care and cosmetics. I would still argue, however, that its formulation is not that different from other BP products (except perhaps more gentle than OXY), and since Mary Kay is sometimes hard to get, others might want to take your lead and try BP in some other more available and cheaper form. Oxy is less than half the price of Mary Kay's treatment, and has basically the same active ingredient, that's all.

Believe me, I am thrilled for you. We love success stories here, and certainly welcome inspiring stories such as yours!

Gosh! The stuff is totally not a waste of money. If Oxy works for some, that's cool. It didn't work for me... All it did was minimize the zits and dry my skin out really badly, even with moisturizers! This gel doesn't do that (when you use it properly and follow with a moisturizer, as always). It just clears up and keeps it clear. Looks like, whether the products have the same ingredient, etc. doesn't matter... SOMETHING is different.

Bottom line - If Oxy hasn't worked for some of you, as well as other Eckerds stuff, give the Mary Kay a try!

I agree!

BTW, do you also use their mask? I have never found one better than their #3 for oily skin. It is absolutely sensational. I always used to use it before I went anywhere special because my pores were tightened, my oil reduced, and I had a nice matte finish to my skin afterward for many hours. I lost touch with my rep so I don't have access to it, which is I guess why I was so overly concerned about anyone else having to rely on a seller to get Mary Kay. It's not anything you can just go to the store and buy or have a doctor write a prescription for.

This is amazing that I found your message today. I have never left a message on here before, but I signed on for the first time today because I wanted everyone to know about Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel. I used to have a great complexion until about 2 years ago. I am 42. I tried a lot of OTC products, and looked into Pro Activ, but did not want to make that kind of financial committment. (I didn't care for the policy of sending me a product every three months and charging the cost to my credit card.)
I have been using the gel for a little over a month, and within 4 days the blackheads were gone. My chin took a little longer to clear up(about 2 weeks). I am so excited about this product I wanted everyone to know about it! It is a little drying, but I just use a lotion.

Blackheads GONE? I never had that happen with it and I tried it alternating with OXY for two years. Lucky you. Really!! It sounds like you're not as oily to begin with, and we all know what a large oil output will do! Maybe it was the drying.

Cool!! I am so glad it HAS helped someone else! It cleared up my blackheads too... and I have EXTREME oil flow!! I wake up, wash up, gel-up, moisture-up, make-up, powder-up and an hour or two later, I look like I've spritzed my face in vegetable oil. Hahahaha! I've always had tons of oil... So much that I have to rewash the front strands of my hair in the afternoons because my face makes them oily! Eeeewww! Toner just makes my pores super-produce oil! Ha! Ha! I have to say I don't care about my oil at all, because the ZITS ARE GONE!!!! I'm not going to start complaining about something else, because the nasty postules covering my face were what made me feel so miserable about myself. Oil, I can handle.

I just know, like you, that the gel just works great! I can even have a huge one forming and it will never come to a head... It will just go back down and then be gone. It got rid of those little hard oil plugs in my pores too... I took awhile but finally they just came out. I get an occasional zit, (not even every week!) but it's very small and gone with an extra dab of gel... Even when I sometimes fall asleep with makeup on (an action that would have cost me about 20 new 'mountains' in the past!), the gel keeps me clear! The Mary Kay masks work great too. They do dry up oil and tighten pores very well.

I have about 30 Mary Kay ladies in my area! But you do not need someone selling in your area to order Mary Kay. All anyone has to do is Search for Mary Kay online and find consultants (with addresses and email addresses/web sites)on the Mary Kay site. Even consultants 1000 miles from where you are will send you merchandise with free shipping if you contact them. I know, I've bought and gotten free samples from out of state consultants, when mine were nowhere to be found.

Actually, I have very oily skin, especially the t-zone. I have never had to use lotion to add moisture to my skin before. I'm just very happy that I discovered this product. My complexion problems were quite depressing. I wanted other people to know that maybe they can find help too.

Testament!! This is just crazy!! I come on to try to HELP people who are just like I was for half my life - an acne-sufferer - and my head is bitten off!! What the heck is THAT?!! I'll have you know I read this message board everyday for MONTHS, without actually posting because everyone was pretty much already WRITING what I felt!!! Why reiterate all that?! I felt I'd post when I had something beneficial to say that could actually HELP some people who felt like I did!! Now that I have something good to say that can actually HELP some people, the people say, "OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!

WHY?! People are willing to run out and spend all that money on lengthy B5 routines (and I don't know what all else of vitamin overdoses which have who knows WHAT long-term effects on the body!!) which sound more like torture, as well as ridiculous massive cutbacks in an otherwise healthy diet. Not to mention slathering faces with stinky raw eggs, and taking medications that have VERY long health risk lists; getting painful injections in their faces for zits and scarring... BUT people get OFFENDED when I write that an $8 gel has cured my 10 YEAR BATTLE with SEVERE acne!! And for anyone who might COMPLAIN that I don't know what 'severe' is, I can tell you 30+ zits and several of them mountain ranges of connecting under-skin tunnels!! I have ice-picks too.

I understand what it's like to feel totally helpless and desperate about acne. Please do not take my post as a way to rub it in your faces that you still suffer with acne and I don't. All I want is to help... because I will ALWAYS remember and fear it!! So try rubbing this gel in your faces and see if it can help you!!!

Testament, just look at her registered date, she's obviously been here way before you were so don't judge like that.

Anywho, I'm so happy for your success! Can you please tell me what the exact name of the gel is called? It sounds like a wonderful product. Thanks so much!

Island Girl, it's from Mary Kay and called Acne Treatment Gel.

I too am surprised by Testament's message. I did not register until yesterday, but have been reading this board for over a year hoping for some help. Now that I have found something that works, I wanted to share the information with others. I have a lot of health issues that I had to deal with in the last couple of years, but the one thing that bothered me the most is when my face began to break out with cysts and blackheads. I'm just letting other people know I have found something that works, and I was hoping it might help someone else.

I registered last week and got my head ripped off too, luckily i've been on acne boards for awhile now and realize people feel they have been here and have seniority,i on the other hand been around acne since i was 17 and i am 26 now, there are about 30 big message boards for acne and this is the latest one i found. What is so crazy is if you say something doesn't work on the current treatment say B5.. or vinegar...they will go at you like a dog,if you said it worked they will agree with you and say it works wonders. Thee is not 1 message board where people have disagreements... for about 6 months "Proactive" was the BIG HIT many many people came on the other acne boards saying accutane didn't work but Proactive didn't and when people said proactive is just a gentle over priced Benzoil peroxide people flipped,These boards are for advice opinions .. whatever.. please don't rip peoples head off because of the "date" they registered,in fact because i registered last week for the first time... and i know so much (been through alot) people said i was a Derm who was looking for business, when i was just giving cold hard truth and advice,it's very hard for people to take the truth. Please let's not argue and keep the message boards free of SPAM if you don't agree with someone you have the right to disagree but don't degrade people or feel your better NO ONE IS BETTER than anyone in this world, clear or not.

All the Best,
RIch

I just wanted to say that I am also in love with the Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel. I've had mild acne for a while now. Mainly blackheads and cysts. I would pick at them, they would scar and then the cycle would continue. I have oily skin but I was using harsh products that were drying my face and causing it to flake. I've had Mary Kay Acne Gel for a long time...but never used it. I would start on it for a few days, then if I'm at the store I would pick up some other brand that claims to do the trick. So this would go on for a while and the next thing I know I have a cabinet full of "so-called acne treatments"...and still had acne.

Since reading the posts about acne I've learned a lot of things. BP and the affects it has on your skin is one of them. So, there I was going through my cabinet and tossing things that the majority said didn't work and kept the things that people said did. MK Acne Gel treatment is one of them. And let me just say, its been about 2 weeks now, and my skin is not only pimple free but the old scars that I once had, have faded tremendously. I"m in love with it and I'm so happy with the results.

I apologise if you thought I was 'ripping your head off.' I, in no way, meant disrespect... I was merely pointing out that it seems like all the newer users have found the cures and everyone who has been here a long time are the ones that are struggling.

as we all know, different things work for different people whne it comes to acne.............but I guees it is particulary surprising when someone comes ont he board and says something as simple as bp cream cleared them up! it seems to good to be true. But, Im sure you guys are right and whatever was in this cream helped you! Especially because I have had first hand experience that some bp creams and gels are not othters-proaciv's bp cream made me red and irritated, yet I can use other brands higher bp cream concentrations that dont really irritate my skin at all. its all about forumulation. I would be interested to know what exactly is in the mary kay that makes it so special is it more moisturizing or something, and what else are you doing with it(cleansers etc.......)

Yep, different things work differently for different people. I think that some folks lurk here and try out the things that are suggested and then post about it if they get good results. Not everyone is going to ask questions first cause if you look over this board nearly every question has already been asked.
