It might dry you too much it might not... Everyone's skin will not react the same. One thing we learned is that you can go slower with topicals and work into them gradually and get good results. Doctors won't always tell you that. I wish someone had when we tried retin-a. My daughter uses Bio-medic's Anti-bac over benzaclin at night and it counteracts the dryness while not diminishing the effectiveness. That works well for us. Just use your own judgment. IP: Logged |

joe, i was on the benzaclin routine as well. i used it during the day and differin at night plus taking oral antibiotics. the routine is a little different than yours but i had pretty good success with it, unfortunately the acne did eventually come back. My skin was a bit red and flaky but i attribute that to the differin. IP: Logged |

also i would probably follow the derm's instructions b/c if it doesnt work, you can tell him you did everything he said and then you guys can work out a new plan from there. i guess for maximum effectiveness the derm wants the topical on as much as possible (benzaclin twice a day, and differin every other day cuz its more irritating) and then the use of tetracylines systemically IP: Logged |
