I've been experiencing hairloss while on B5! I took only 3g/day and have lost half of my hair in a very short time. That was really scary. It turend out that the level of iron in my blood became too low. Actually this level was still normal for some people, but it was too low for me. I stopped taking B5 and started taking some iron but it took quite a while before my hair stopped falling out and started growing back.

It's well known that too much of B5 (more than 500mg/day ) kann have this effect on your body. Just look for some information on the internet (but not from those who is selling B5).

So if you are loosing your hair stop taking B5 immediately. Biotin won't help you at all with this problem. It's just good for the hair, but dosn't help in that case.

That's terrible! I hope that if you do get off of the B5, things start getting better for you!!

I hope that other readers will take this as a warning...this is just one of the many horrifying side effects from B5 that have been posted about on this board!!

After intitally working In 3 months, I continued on B-5 for 3 more months, the acne came back, and the hair thinned, I dunno if its Male pattern baldness kicking in or the 10 Grams of b-5 for 6 months but there is a thinning of the hair after 3 months on it.

BTW I took no B-50 complex for teh first 3 months, and no EFA supplements, which megadosing on B-5 Depletes.

i have been losing my hair too! like you said about the biotin, the study was with biotin, b5, nicotinamide. im not sure about the nicotinamide, but i researched biotin, and it is suppose to be good with hair. maybe this is the reason why his patients didnt experience hair loss?? well i dont really know , but i just ordered some biotin online yesterday. but now im wondering if i should have just gotten fish oil?

I've experienced no side effects that lasted more than a day or two. In fact, I think I'm even a bit more hairy since taking the B5. Maybe you're all missing some other vitamins in your diet or supplements. I take C, B complex, zinc/magnesium/calcium, E, A & D, and of course lots and lots of water.

biotin is part of the b complex group. Its suppose to help prevent hair loss, allieviat eczema and dermatitis, lower blood glucose and inhibit glycation at higher doses...(im not too sure if i understand it all) but anyhow, i take b50, multi, and zinc. my multi got a,e,d,c vitamins in it too.

Yipes! As a female, I don't know which would be worse: losing hair or becoming a "bit more hairy"! Either way, scary!

"A bit" means not enough to make any dramatically noticeable difference.

Tamara, how did you find out about your iron levels? Have you done a blood test? And have you also measured other levels, like biotin, vit b6? Have you also tried biotin?
