Hi There,

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had my 2nd appt on Friday afternoon and got to hear the heartbeat. What a beautiful sound! I'm almost 14 weeks now and still experiencing some nausea. I threw up (for the second time ever) on Friday night. I think it was the big bag of pocorn my DH and I shared at the movies that did it to me. I won't do that again! How's everyone else feeling?

KMC,
Glad to hear your appt. went so well! Now you can RELAX!! I'm hoping I will be able to relax a little more after my next apppointmen on 4/15. I will be 16 weeks by then.

I'm still feeling very well. I get up in the night 2 times to pee now. I haven't had any nausea at all yet, so I feel blessed in that department. However, it seems I have a bloody nose every time I turn around.

I packed away all my pre-pregnancy jeans this weekend. A friend of mine gave me all her maternity clothes last week. I couldn't believe how much stuff she had!! We are about the same size, and her baby was born last October so all her clothes should fit accordingly to the seasons. Her clothes are adorable, and I'm hoping that I will be able to fit in them the whole time. She was the most adorable pregnant person I had ever seen....all belly! You couldn't even tell she was pregnant, except for her big belly. I'm hoping I will fall in her footsteps so that her clothes will fit me.

Hope all is well with everyone else!!

Heaven, Just wondering if you're feeling better about your fall. I hope you're not still too worried about it.

You are so lucky that you can borrow your friend's maternity clothes. I don't know anyone who has been pregnant recently and have to buy everything. So I guess my wardrobe is going to be really spartan - I'll be wearing the same things over and over again. I'm into maternity clothes part-time at this point. I have a pair of regular pants on now and they're unbuttoned and halfway unzipped! But I've got a big sweater on and nobody can tell. Problem is that everything I bought is really summery and it's still to cold to wear most of it.

I feel very fortunate that she is allowing me to borrow her clothes. Maternity clothes are so expensive! (especially for the cute trendy ones!).

I'm feeling a little better about my fall. The more people I talk too, tell me its nothing to worry about. They will then tell me of a fall they had when they were pregnant (which was worse than mine) and all was fine. One of my friends had even gotten in a car accident with her sister (both of them were 7-8 months pregnant) and everything was fine. So I do feel a little better, just not 100% reassured.

I'm a worrier by nature, so I think if I didn't have that fall to worry about, it would be something else!

HA! Well, if it's "worse than you" stories that make you feel better, you came to the right place!

I fell lots, I was hit by a car, you name it I did it. My big strapping 12 year old is sitting beside me in perfect health

blessings to you!

Hi girls! I am still here! I haven't been posting that much recently because I am going through a grumpy phase these days. Crazy pregnancy hormones! Some days I just sit in my living room and cry for no reason! Poor DH doesn't know what to do with me anymore!

I've also been cleaning my house from top to bottom. I am not one to spend an entire day cleaning up and recently I have had the urge to clean everything. You know when you get up in the morning and everything looks dirty...only looks dirty to you because it's not that bad? Well, that's what I have been feeling for about a week now. (Can someone give me a tap on the back?)

But, I am still here trying to put my two cents where I can and trying to give support as much as possible! You guys are great and I am so happy that I found this place where I can vent about everything and anything! I love you guys!

Ok, time for dinner here. DH will be home soon, so maybe I should go put some make-up on...my acne is really bad right (because of the pregnancy) now and I am quite scary! Who said that pregnant women have a "glow" needs to get his/her eyes checked! Ha!

Have a good night everyone!

Hello!
I am here. All is well with baby.
Things are kinda crappy in the household though. Fiance is being a complete idiot jerk and causing me to seriously question whether he's capable of being a father.
Other than that no complaints lol

Hi all! I'm a October mom. Just haven't been posting much but all is going well here so far. I have my 2nd appointment on Friday and will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. I will feel much better once I hear that. At my first appointment I did have an ultrasound and he said everything was great so I'm sure everything will be fine.

hi,
I posted in the other October moms section. My EDD is October 1st. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the babies actual age. My ultrasound said 12 weeks (so I'm 12 weeks 6 days). When I use the online pregnancy calculators I get 13 weeks and 6 days. Does this mean my baby is actually 12 weeks and 13 weeks is actually based on the 40 week measurements? This is all so confussing. My last menstral period was on 12/25/02. Anyway either way my little one is doing well. I have been a little sick but luckily not everyday! I've also had am itchy cough for a few days. Apart from that everything is great. I'm not showing yet but things are getting a little tight round the fat I seemed to have gathered on my waist
Hope to get to know you all over the next 7 or so months!

I'm here, I'm here. It seems every time I go, they change from Oct 1 to Sept 30, and back again. Cat, we are right at the same spot. As far as I know, you can go by your last period for the due date, but every baby grows differently, so your doctor would have the better info by doing the measurements from the ultrasound, or whatever his/her method. Is this your first? If so, you will probably be late delivering anyhow, so you may just want to go by the later date. I know it is the age of the "peanut" that has changed, but I would go by what the doctor says, just because they have more scientific means, personalized to you than the charts that fits the average. Good luck to you!

I am feeling pretty good. I actually only work Tues to Fri, and I do not have the internet at home, so I only post the days I am at work.

I had a great, but tiring weekend. I turned 30 on Sunday. This is supposed to be my good luck year: 30 on the 30th. My DH bought me a stand-up shower, and he is going to extend our ensuite bathroom, and our walk-in closet, so they are both 18 feet long!! Woohoo. I can't wait. I have some trouble getting in and out of the bathtub, I have permanent bruises on my shins, just due to my spinal cord injury, so having less of a step would make a huge difference. He is starting this weekend. I am so lucky he can do all of this himself. He is starting this weekend, but one of the girls at work said that maybe he wants a job to keep himself away from me, if I've been *****y! Ha! She was kidding. I keep joking that he has been getting a lot done in the basement since I have been a bit hard to live with. We have 4 bedrooms right now, so we are moving into the one behind the ensuite and closet now. So, we will end up with 3 bedrooms. Glad to hear everyone is still well. My next appt is April 17. I can't wait. I think I feel pretty confident now, but after that, I will feel even better. A friend got me baby outfit this weekend. Our first piece of clothing. It felt so weird. So real, I guess.
Well, I'd better go, I have run on long enough!

Happy belated 30th birthday Karcia! I'm also an Aries and we're supposed to be headstrong (some may call it *****y), so just imagine what pregnancy does to us? Poor, poor DHs. So how did the big announcement go at your party? Did you do something special to tell people you're pregnant?

Welcome, Catnedward. I'm also due Oct 1 and will be exactly 14 weeks tomorrow (Wednesday). My last period was 12/20, but I have really long cycles which made the online calculators (which tend to be based on 28 day cycles) really inaccurate. Did your doc change your due date after the ultrasound?

Ally, let us know how it goes for you Friday. I know you must be really excited to hear that beautiful sound.

Username, I hope things are going better at home. Feel free to vent all you want here.

Sweetmelf, Tap, Tap, Tap. I'm actually obsessed with cleaning now too. But only because we're selling our apartment and lots people are coming by to look at it. Before I was the laziest thing alive. Normally I was always into cleaning but those first few weeks I just wanted to lay around and do nothing.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to bump us back to the top!

How are you feeling? I am 14 weeks today, and I'm still so exhausted. I could fall asleep at anytime of the day (not even exagerating). I usually fall asleep aroud 8:30, and I'm STILL tired when my alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m.. I get home from work around 4:30, and I have to FORCE myself to do little daily chores...laundry, cleaning, make dinner. All I want to do is SLEEP! I walk daily, eat right, drink plenty of fluids, so I'm hoping this will pass. I thought we were supposed to feel great in our 2nd trimesters?!?! Oh, and DH was looking forward to my sex drive coming back (he read that in one of my books)...so far, I don't see that happening anytime soon! Poor DH.

Anybody else? I hate feeling so tired and lazy all the time!!

Well, this may very well be TMI, but all I can say is I'd probably feel a heck of a lot more comfortable, and be a lot less grouchy if I could poop more than twice a week!

LOL!

Jsbaby, I ran into that problem a couple weeks ago. I found that eating MORE fruit (I'm going to turn into a damn fruit!) and taking Fibercon really helped. (My Dr. said it was safe). I also try to gag down atleast 4 prunes a day...DH laughs at me, but it seems to help.

Ooooh, do I hear you Jsbaby!! I find that if I take a bottle of water to work with me, it helps a bit, but (prepare for TMI): there is no way that as much is coming out than is going in! I have always had a real problem with this, and food was never enough. I had to take meds, but now I can't, so I am doing the best I can. Try the waterbottle thing, it really surprised me. My bottle is less than 1/2 a litre, and I drink one in the morning, and one after lunch. It can' hurt, and water is great for us anyhow.

I am sitting on a heating pad right now -only 10 minutes at a time - because my leg cramps are even making it hard to stand. 6 more months of this may just kill me. I hope everyone is feeling well today!

I will try something if it doesn't change soon - but (no pun intended), the thing is when I do have to go, it's like "NOW!!!" and I'm not sure I'd like to speed that up any, given that I work with people... LOL!

I go to the doctor next Friday, and I will be 7 weeks exactly, I can't wait!!! I've no idea what to expect.

So far, I am not bad with symptoms, mainly just being KAPUT by 7pm. On and off lower back pain, sore bb's, nausea but not all the time, and not terrible.

Hi there!

I'm still really exhausted too. And still feeling lots of nausea. I'm really counting on that honeymoon stage of pregnancy kicking in soon.

My DH recently got a transfer to San Antonio, so we're going to be making a huge move across the country in a few weeks. I'm really excited about it and estatic to be leaving NY (and all the taxes here), but it's going to be really exhausting. There's so much to do! I'm leaving my job end of April and will take it easy for awhile and just do freelance work. We couldn't have gotten by in NY on one salary, so this will give me the opportunity to stay at home with the baby for awhile too. I'm so excited!

Have a great day everyone!

Wow, congrats Kmc, that is great news. Whoohoo, are you going to be TIRED!! Pace yourself, and remember not to lift anything heavy. This may actually be the best time to move, you can get out of a lot of the work! lol! Off to warmer weather! That is great about staying home with the baby too! How much of maternity leave do y'all get down there anyhow?? (notice the Texas twang)

Thanks Karcia! I would have gotten six weeks paid leave if were staying at my job in NY. I'm kind of torn about giving that up, but I know I wouldn't have been ready to go back in six weeks. And child care here is outrageously expensive anyway, so it wouldn't have been worth it. In Texas I'll be working for myself, so I can do whatever I want. I feel really lucky about that. My DH works for the federal government and he's allowed to use sick days for paternity leave. He's been there for a few years and never calls in sick, so he's got over a month of leave coming to him. I think paternity leave is pretty rare in the US, so we feel really lucky about that too. What's it like in Canada?

This is the best excuse ever to get out of doing the manual labor. I HATE moving. I'll just be packing up those boxes and making DH carry them.

I didn't even think that I wouldn't have Internet access! That's something else I have to add to the list. I guess there will be a couple of weeks in May that I'll be out of touch. There's going to be lots of of reading to catch up on when I get my computer up and running again.

Just thought I would say hello! It has been very crazy around here since I got the chicken pox. I am finally feeling better and am no longer itchy however I look as though I have just gone through puberty and have a horrible case of acne. I saw the Dr today and she found the heartbeat for me. I almost started crying as this was the first sign of life (they could not find the HB last time). I was so happy I go for a very in depth ultrasound sometime next week in the hospital with a fetal specialist or something like that. They are trying to see if baby was affected by the pox. I don't think they will be able to tell anything until 18-20 weeks but I am always willing to have the opportunity to see my beautiful baby. I hope you are all well and finally feeling better (or at least getting close to feeling better). BON

Oh, Kmc: you may not like my answer to "what's it like in Canada". We get a full year. The husband and wife are allowed to split that however we like, too, so we could each do 6 months, or honestly, if I am the pregnant one, I am doing the full year myself. It is 55% of our pay, but there are deductions that are normally removed from our pay that are not removed from this, and since the amount is low, the tax rate is much lower, so it works out to be about 70% of our pay, up to a maximum of $413 per week gross. It used to be 6 months, but about 3 years ago it changed to a year. It is great. I am really looking forward to it.

I hope you are not offline for long! We'll miss you here.

Hi all October moms! I hope everyone is feeling great this morning (well, it's 9 am for me here). I am doing good, actually better than good. Yesterday I felt really pooped and today I feel much better. DH made my day too last night. I was sitting on the bed, putting my pj on and my sweet DH started to rub my tummy and he said: "I love your body when you are pregnant. If pregnancy wouldn't result in a child every 9 months, I would keep you this way forever".

I am sure all of you know how hard it is to lose your shape and to gain weight and everything that comes with being pregnant. When he said that to me, I almost started to cry. I mean, I read the other day on another board about a lady who's DH was turned off by her belly. I felt so bad for her and it made me wonder what my DH was feeling towards me and my big belly.

I just had to share with all of you. This simple comment made my day yesterday and made me fall in love with my DH all over again!

So, how is everyone feeling today? How big is everyone's belly getting? I am 13 weeks 2 days and I am bigger than my friend who's 20 weeks. She's pregnant with her first and this is my third so that must be why I am showing this much already. I am also very petite (5'2", 114 pounds).

Have a good day everybody!

Just wondering how much weight you guys have gained so far?? I'm almost 15 weeks and I've gained 4 lbs. I also noticed my belly has been really starting to bulge out the past week or so.

Hope all is well!!

Hi there, Hope everyone is doing great. I weighed myself yesterday and was up one pound. But I seem to be fluctuating a bit because I was up four pounds a few weeks ago. I'm ready for my belly to get bigger and rounder, but I haven't noticed a big difference lately. I hope that's not a bad sign! I'm really looking forward to looking pregnant soon.

I gained 5 pounds the first 6 weeks, then lost 3, and I have gained one back, so in total I am up 3 pounds. Good to know I am about average with you guys. Kmc: I know a girl who still wasn't really showing at 4 months, so I don't think it is a bad sign. Everyone is different. I know what you mean, I am having to wear the baggy clothes, etc, and I just look bigger, not pregnant. My belly has popped a bit, but my winter clothes don't show it. My summer ones do, but it is not warm enough to wear them yet. Have a great day ladies!

My next dr's appt is the 17th, but being in Canada, we have that SARS scare. I imagine you have heard of it, it is a type of pneumonia that came from China, or Hong Kong, and has killed 10 Canadians so far. They are all in Toronto, which is a 4 hour drive from here, and nothing has been detected here, but all of the hospitals are only seeing emergency cases: no appointments or visitors otherwise, so my appt may be cancelled. We'll have to see. I have not heard from my Dr's office yet, but I imagine they will wait until closer to the date to be sure it is still closed. My doctor has his office in the hospital - no clinic, so that is the only option. I feel pretty good, so I am not too concerned, but I want to get my blood tested again. Anyhoooo, that is my venting for today. I just hope SARS stays away from here. Some scary stuff! If there is even a remote change it is around here, I will not step foot anywhere near the hospital.

Karcia,

SARS is scary stuff, but atleast you are taking the precautions to protect yourself and your little one.

My next appt. is 4/15, so I am anxiously and nervously awaiting that. I hate this going once a month crap... I wish we could go once a week to check on our little ones.

I'm thinking about renting a doppler online. I am such a worry wart, and I think checking my babys heartbeat whenever I want would be reassuring. Then again, if my baby wants to get me going, he/she will curl up in a ball so I can't find the heartbeat. That would put me in complete panic...so maybe a doppler isn't the way to go for me.

Take care everyone!

Karcia, I had no idea that SARS had killed 10 Canadians! I just knew that no one in the US had died yet, though there are quite a few cases here. I was doing some research yesterday because I was curious to know what would happen to a pregnant woman who got the virus. I found out that a Singaporean doctor and his pregnant wife had contracted SARS and the wife wasn't able to get the antibiotics that they're administering for it because it's dangerous for the fetus. It's probably really good that you're avoiding the hospitals right now.

My DH's start date at his job in Texas was pushed back to June 30, so turns out I have some more time here. I'm kind of relieved becuase I want to keep working for a bit longer. The only problem is that I'll be starting pre-natal care at a new place only three months before my due date. So right now I'm stressing about that.

There's always something to worry about...

Good morning ladies:

SARS is a bit scary, but at least not in my area. The closest case is about a 4 hour drive away. Anyhow, I know what you mean about the doppler, Heaven. I would be checking it every hour, I think, and when I didn't hear it I would probably jump up and down, then try it again until I heard it! LOL. Kmc: Glad to hear you'll be around longer. The extra money will be nice for you. I am wearing my first maternity top today. I got it for my birthday. I just hope that people can see that I am pregnant. When I tell people, they say, "oh, I had just thought you were putting on weight". Oh, great. People are just thinking I am eating too much! I am very glad to hear that you are gaining (or not really gaining) weight, just like I am. I was a bit concerned since I had only put on 3 pounds, but it looks like the norm. My belly is bigger, so I figured I should weigh more. I am still clinging to the hope that the weight is coming off my butt and going onto my belly. What do you think?? Likely?? Right.
