I am in very early pregnancy (5 weeks sice last period, 3 weeks since conception)and Dh and I had planned a trip to Cozumel. The flight is 2 hrs long each way. We are planning on still going, but I am worried that the air pressure might hurt the pregnancy . . . We are supposed to leave on June 16th. At that time I would be 6wks since last period and 4 weeks since conception. Is this too early???

i could be wrong but i have only every heard that you are not supposed to fly in late pregnancy incase you go into labour i have a friend that flew when she was seven months pregnant saying that it was only a short flight not even an hour but i think it is just that certain airlines wont let you fly in late pregnancy but i think that early pregnancy is fine

Hi! I would not worry about it. My first pregnancy I flew when I was 7 weeks, 12 weeks, and 20 weeks. All of these flights were at least five hours long. I actually flew when I was close to 7 months and that was pretty rough just because it was uncomfortable. With all that flying I had a healthy 9 lb 10 oz baby so I don't think it hurts the baby. The biggest pain in the butt is having to pee all time. This week I am leaving for another five hour plane trip and I am six weeks pregnant.

Have fun on your trip!!!!

Call and ask your doctor or a nurse in the ob/gyn dept of your clinic/hospital. They should be able to tell you. It's always much better feeling (i think) getting the go ahead by a doctor. Anyways, let us know how it goes!

Call your doctor, but my suggestion is:

Go, and have a WONDERFUL TIME! I used to be a flight attendant and the only time we would question anything was if you looked like you were about to pop! What a great vacation, wish I could go!

Assuming you haven't experienced any complications it will be completely safe. I was in the military and was flying all the time. I know you aren't suppose to at the end of your pregnancy. I can't remember the exact weeks though. Of course, still ask your doc just for reassurance
