Hey, There's something that's been bugging me and I thought I would just ask here. I have these white spots all over my body (mainly, or at least more visible in my upper legs, back and stomach) and I don't know what's causing them. The first time I noticed them were last year when I went to the beach and got a sun tan. They were just in my legs then. I used some ointment then but didn't follow the instructions too carefully, I lost the tan and altho I could still see them a bit, I didn't do anything else. A few weeks ago I went to the beach again and this time they were in my stomach and back too, there were more of them. I asked a doctor (not a dermatologist, but he knew what he was talking about) and he prescribed some ointment for a week and some pills for 5 days. He told me it was probably allergic, that if there was something I was eating or some shampoo or soap I'd been using for the last year to stop. So I started using products without colorants. He told me even if the 'fungus' dissapeared I'd have to get a suntan for the white spots to burn. So I've been sun tanning but I can still see them, so I don't think it worked ![]() I know I gotta get to a doctor, but maybe someone has had a similar experience and can tell me what it is? I'm really sick of it. It's not TOO obvious but I can see it and it bugs me. If anyone could shed any light on this, I'd be really greateful. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Yeah, it worries me a bit that they haven't gone away, even after the treatment, but maybe doctors over the phone aren't good enough, he should take a look. ![]() Thanks. IP: Logged |

i also have the same thing, years ago when i noticed them i went to dermatologist and he also stated fungus after looking at them with his headgear and uv lights on. Prescribed some sort of salycic acid that sloughed off all dead skin cells. Nothing worked, I honestly think i got them originally in a tanning bed. The sunning helps in there appearance, as they are real small yet everywhere, hard to notice from a distance. Im 32 and still have them, i wouldnt worry too much. ![]() IP: Logged |

Gosh you still have them? Did you notice if they spread with time? 'cause I used to have them in my legs only, now they're in my stomach and back as well. You're right, they're not too bad, actually when I get tanned they look worse 'cause of the contrast. When I'm all pale they're not so noticeable Hope I can get rid of them. Thanks for the help IP: Logged |

This could also be Vitiligo, which usually looks worse when the skin tans because of the contrast. I would get to the derm. soon and see what he has to say. IP: Logged |
