Does Grecian Formula 16 really work? I've read a lot about how it is *supposed* to work, but not read anything about whether it *does* work.
Has anyone had any experience with the product? Are there any nasty side effects? Does it cause hair to fall out? Does it color hair blue? Does it actually work as indicated?

(btw, has anybody noticed that *nowhere* except on the package insert for directions for use does it state that you cannot wash your hair for the first 3 weeks of treatment. Yuchh! Seems like you need to substitute one bad thing for another, albeit temporarily).

Thx,

Galveston

PLEASE do not use Grecian Formula on your hair!! The base color is very ash, and since ash is a green based color, your hair will take on a greensih cast as the color fades. There are other ways to get rid of the grey without looking like the Grinch as it fades out. You can go to your local salon, and if they carry Redken Shades EQ, they can easily and slowly return your hair to its natural color without any unwanted off-cast.

Thanks for your feedback, Marti.

I had heard that Grecian Formula turns your hair yellowish in the initial phases from grey-to-dark, now I hear that it turns it greenish in the return phases from dark-to-grey. Wow. One would surely have a colorful head from using Grecian Formula.

Can the Redken product be used by myself at home?

Yes, Shades EQ can be applied at home -- that is, if the Salon will sell it to you. Since it is a professional product and sold only to licensed individuals, they may not sell it to you, but insist that they apply it themselves.
