Hi. I have these very small white zits/cysts on the skin under my eyes? They don't seem to have any pus in them, their very small you can only see them if your within 4 feet of me and lookin under my eyes. I'm just trying to figure out what they are, as their embarassing. I've been to the doctor,on a routine check-up he said they look like sebacious cysts, but said it's unusual to get them there, so he wasn't sure. I'm just wondering if anyone else has these, so I don't feel alone, and if there is a treatment that would help them dissapear? Also today I had a magnification mirror and looked at them, it seems theres tiny small white hairs in them, theres hairs all over my face, is that weird? What are these? IP: Logged |

Are you using an eye cream? I get these same little white bumps when I use too much moisturizer under or around my eyes, and it drives me crazy. They do go away, but it takes a while. It doesn't matter if the moisturizer I'm using is oil-free or not, so I've just given up on putting anything on that tender skin. I don't know about the little hairs, I've never heard of that. It's normal to have little hairs on your face, though. J. IP: Logged |

If they're actually on the eyelid (where your eyelashes grow) you may have some kinda cyst thing that I had treated with minor surgery. Do a web search for 'sty' to see if that's the same thing (if it is, go see a better doctor). Either way, if it is a cyst thing, try massaging a towel soaked in hot water to the affected area, I know this can help. IP: Logged |

I have these around my eyes too. I don't think there are hairs in them though. They look like whiteheads but they're not. I have one on my eyelid (and it's not a sty, it's been there for YEARS) I've always just written them off as some kind of skin tag. My boyfriend has them also... IP: Logged |

It sounds like milia, which are whiteheads, to me. I just graduated from school for skin care so now I'm an esthetician. I still have my text book and I'm going to type what it says about milia: Milia are commonly called whiteheads. They are very small epidermal cysts that are just undet the surface of the skin. They resemble sesame seeds. They are almost perfectly round. They contain sebaceous secretions and a buildup of dead cells, but they are not neccessarily associated with a follicle. Milia often form after a skin trauma or surgical procedure. They are especially frequent after skin resurfacing treatments, such as dermabrasion, chemical peels, or laser resurfacing. If what you have is milia, you will need to go to a professional to have them removed, I'm not sure if dermatologists do this, but I know an esthetician can. Hope this helps. [So I don't get in trouble for breaking copyright laws, this came from Milady's Standard Comprehensive Training for Estheticians,2003] IP: Logged |

I don't believe they are milia.... I've heard them called many things but never got a correct term for them. I was told they are calcium deposits under the skin and since the skin under one's eyes is so thin they are visible, where as in other areas one might have them and they may not be. I have a couple of african friends and they have them much worse than I do and obviously theirs are not white. I don't know what they are caused by or if it is calcium for sure but I have heard you can get some sort of cream for them. It might be worth it to ask another doctor if they bother you that much. I have heard these are cholesterol deposits. I have high cholesterol and I have these bumps. One guy I work with has high cholesterol and the bumps then took Lipitor and now the bumps are gone. IP: Logged |

The whiteheads that have no "tip," but stay under the skin and won't come out are called hard milia. Do a google search and you will get a lot of references. I just asked my doctor today. They can be lanced he said, but is sending me to a dermotologist for advise. I would love to find some non evasive way to cure them, if anyone had come up with anything. They are annoying! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Afer an esthetician determined that the bumps around my eyes were not milia, I went to see a Dr. of Cosmetic Surgery. He determined these bumps under my eyes were cysts from sweat glands and harmless, yet can only be removed by laser. My parents both have bunches of these bumps all around their eyes. The Dr. told me I should do something before they become too numerous, so I went ahead with a CO2 laser treatment. I am extremely unsatisfied with the $500 treatment, some of the bumps didn't change at all, some look worse, only one has improved (he treated 7 bumps). He has promised to "re-do" once he has a sciton (?) laser, as this would be a better choice. Great. Now it's been almost a year, I call his office regularly to see if they have the "new" laser, with no answer as of yet. Be sure to get a couple of Dr.'s opinions on the bumps and treatment options.
