I am having a surgery the beginning of may. My doctor says I can not have any nicotine in my blood and they are doing a blood test. So, when do I need to officially quit so it doesn't show in the blood test?

What kind of surgery you having that requires no nicotine in your blood? I am having surgery this wednesday the 19th and all they told me was 24 hours to 3 days and thats just so the lungs are stronger and less prone to infection from the anesetic (sp?). Your lungs are prone to get a bit of fluid in them after surgery and smoking might irritate them more so thats why they like you to quit or cut down before surgery, I have a doc appt tomorrow I will ask him that question cuz I would like to know too and I will post back and tell you. I am having a Gastric Bypass surgery. They are actually going to give me a blood test 1 month and 1 week prior to my surgery date. I heard it takes 30 days but I want to be sure. Im trying to quit but I keep having tiny setbacks.
Please let me know what your doctor says
