I just wanted to know if anyone knew what the vitamin B-12 was essential for? My Neurologist says that my B-12 level is VERY low.....and to start to take vitamins. If that didn't get my count up then she says they would inject me with it......I ain't too sure why?? DOes anyone know what this targets at? IP: Logged |

Vitamin B-12 is essential for proper function of sensory and motor nerves. Basically, if your B-12 gets too low you develop impaired senses of taste and smell as well as problems with overall co-ordination. Some people lack, or have problems with, the enzyme (intrinsic factor) required for B-12 absorbtion through digestion. If this is the case then B-12 injections are the standard treatment.
