I asked this and didn't get a answer. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or judgemental. I've always been taught they were bad and basically like speed or something. I always hear of these companies being sued time and again so have viewed them as bad. But then I read MOST (is it my imagination?) of the success stories being prefaced by the naming of a pill taking coincidentally. Is this true? Which ones are good? Which ones are bad? And why? well i've heard some ppl say they love some, and others say that didnt lose an ounce on the same ones. so who knows! the most common ive success stories heard is xenadrine (with ephedra), phentermine, and anorex. i have heard alot of ppl saying anything ephedra free doesnt really work for them. I tried xenadrine efx (ephedra free) for a few weeks a long time ago and it really didnt do too much. Of course the negatives are anything with ephedra is so dangerous. do a search online and you'll find PLENTY of info on that. and the other diet pills are said to possibly raise your blood pressure. The only prescribed rx i know of that is said to be safe for hbp is xenical. that one doesnt serve as an appetite suppressant, but rather attacks the fat you eat. the negative to this one is that you cant eat ANY fat or watch out! You better do it at home b/c with the xenical, it will literally go right through you. i've also heard ppl have this problem even w/out eating fat. If you never leave your house, i suppose its not a problem IP: Logged |

It really depends on your body and what works. Everyone is different and your lifestyle will determine whether or not a diet pill will work. I try to stay active and work out 3-5 days a week (depending on my work schedule). I also pay attention what I eat and try to make better food selections throughout the day and snack on “good” food instead of junk food. It takes planning and effort but it pays off. In the past I have used various diet pills thinking the weight will melt off with no effort (if you are looking for that kind of pill – good luck there is no such thing). You have to make changes in your lifestyle and you (and only you) can make those changes. I like to take appetite suppressants to assist me throughout the day. I am currently taking Hydroxycut and before that I took Xenadrine RFA-1 (both have ephedrine but I have had no problems using it – unlike others). All I can say is know your body and if start taking something that makes you feel weird and not quite right – stop using it. IP: Logged |

Helllo all who reads this. To microelvis, There is this pill that I started taking called Questral A.C. I have taken it in the past but I stopped because I got distrupted by things so my mind jumped off of it. But know I am trying once more. This medicine does not have no ephedra in it but it works like a charm. last year I was 270pds until I couldn't take it amymore. I was very overweight. I started taking it and exercising with Tae-bo and eating the right stuff. I had lost 60pds in 3 mths. It scared me alittle but It was just me working hard and taking those pills. I can not guranteed your weight loss like mines because you are much lighter, but try it . I am back on it right now. I am having no problems. IP: Logged |

quote: The question is too general. Not all diet pills are alike. Some are safe while others are flat out dangerous. And the ones that are safe have to be used correctly. Too often people abuse them leading to stories about product X is unsafe. Don't read too much into lawsuits or advertised success stories. There will always be people who sue when it turns out they abused the pills. The success stories are marketing and in fine print, it'll say "Results shown are not typical". I think certain pills are safe, but they should be used as supplements. Too many people use these things as substitutes for healthy eating and exercise. People need to educate themselves more instead of just buying into hype. Read the ingredient list, research each one, and decide for yourself if it sounds safe. IP: Logged |

Right on, DonutsNCoffee (love the name) ... I can't emphasize enough how important it is to follow the directions when taking a diet pill, especially one containing ephedra. Many people are in such a hurry to lose the weight that they engage in risky behavior and start loading up on the stimulants rather than making lifestyle changes. I agree that many diet pills can be helpful to a healthy eating and exercise plan. However, I would caution you about stimulant based medications - make sure to monitor your heart rate and general well being throughout the day. Many pills increase your heart rate, and therefore your cardiac output, and that can strain or worsen pre-existing conditions. With that said, I personally take Zantrex-3 ... its ephedra free. Phendimetrazine worked for me. Lost 37 lbs since Feb 6th. Been off them for couple weeks, still losing weight, helped changed my eating habits by forcing me to eat less. Look under a post of mine that says "I really lost 34lbs in 3 months" or something like that. I've been overweight all my life, and my goal date of June 1st weight is 145, today I am 149. Started at 187, my highest point 206. I'm 22 years old. IP: Logged |

Sgreer, I was on them when I joined a weight program, but the program was too expensive so I quit it and bought them online myself. I am sure it is similar to phentermine, however I don't know anything about it. The phendimetrazine (generic of bontril) is an appetite supressant. I loved it, worked miracles for me. IP: Logged |
