is this possible? i've noticed that generally after i put on deodorant, i can feel firm lentil-sized "things" through my skin over one armpit (only one side). i suppose it's just a blocked sweat gland? or perhaps an blocked/enlarged lymph node? i don't use deodorant everyday, and usually its not a problem, and they subside gradually (within a day or two) but today i used it, and now there's one that's ball-bearing size, and can actually be seen extending through the skin, bulging out (not *through* the actual skin surface... but just changing the shape of the skin slightly) is this anything to worry about? i'm pretty sure it'll go away within a couple of days, but it's kind of strange for it to be so big, and it does kind of hurt a bit too.... is it an allergic reaction to the deodorant? any help would be appreciated.... Hi, It is possible that you are allergic to deodorant, but the lack of any other allergic symptoms would probably not suggest this. Yes, you do have lymph nodes in your axilla and these could have swollen in a response to some infection. They do hurt too - have you been feeling unwell at? You don't have to be really sick, just low grade fever, malaise, that kind of thing? Also and this has happened to me. Do you shave under your arms? Sometimes you can 'nick' yourself with a shaver and it does not take a lot for this to become infected quickly and it is hellishly painful. That happened to me and I ended up in the ER having it lanced. Didn't mind though as I had a real dish of an ER doc, but what you have described sounds just like mine. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you by this, but do get it check out by a doc, it could be something and nothing, but best to check hey? Good luck. Hope this helps? Take care

I can develop rashes from deodorants (and laundry detergent, too), and even after I find one that does not cause a reaction, after some period of time I can start to react to it. So, I need to keep a supply with slightly different ingredients and rotate, and have not had any problems in a number of years. IP: Logged |

Hey, I used to have the same problem but then it got worse. Now I actually get these holes under both of my arms. At first I thought that I had cancer. I finally went to a derm. and he said they are infected sweat glands. These things really hurt. I have 2 choices. 1. I can take a long round of very strong antibiotics (plus atibiotic cream) or 2. I can have surgery to remove my sweat glands from under my arms. The surgery can lead to other problems. The doctor suggested that I use a deoderent spray. I had these things for years before I did anything about it, please don't wait to get it checked out. If they start turning into the painful holes then it will make you very sick. Good luck! ------------------ IP: Logged |
