A couple of days ago I woke up and noticed my left thumb had a random twitch. I still have it, I notice it when I'm not really moving, like when reading something on the computer. When i went to webMD, it said it's the symptoms of parkinson's disease, or ET (something tremor). I'm only 17 and my mom said it's not likely it could be parkinson's... I'm just sorta worried/concerned. Any info appreciated..Thanxx!! IP: Logged |

Parkinson's is virtually unheard of in teenagers, so it could be benign essential tremor, which although bothersome, is of no medical significance. Is it a shakey, fine tremor or does the whole thumb actually jerk? Sometimes, in people your age, isolated twitching can be something known as benign fasiculation syndrome. It's not serious . (Note the word "benign"!) Fasciculations are muscle twitches. If it continues and is really bothering you, see your doctor just to put your mind at ease if nothing else! Hi Green, Its like this kid,for example..if you had Panic Disorder and went to a Therapist or even a Doctor,and you told them you had this this and this symptom and couldnt take your mind off it...one thing they would prob have you do is to hold your thumb straight out til it pulsated... The reason???Because people with Panic Disorder constantly obsess about their symptoms.We NEVER think about our thumb pulsing,but shrink inside at other symptoms. Im concerned about your behavior running to Webmd so quickly..Are you a worrier?Now if the pulsing dont stop then I would go to the Doctor.. IP: Logged |
