I suggest you look into "keratosis pilaris." It's exactly as you described, small pimple-like bumps that can appear on the upper arms, or upper legs. Sometimes they go away, but they always seem to come back...

If this is what you have, then I'm sorry to tell you that there's no way to get rid of it permanently, unless your body gets rid of it for you naturally (which sometimes happens after aging). They do have creams that will clear it up temporarily... but in my opinion, it's not worth the money.

And this is a hereditary thing.. you didn't catch it from anything (other than your reletives).

The bumps caused by keratosis pilaris are actually plugged up.. um.. I think it was hair folicles.. something like that.. So, anyway, what I was getting at is that perhaps exfoliating would be a cheaper alternative rather than buying a cream to suppress the bumps? I have keratosis pilaris (thanks, dad ) and I find that exfoliating does help.. I mean, it won't make it totally go away, but I see improvement.

Hope that helped some!

My husband and daughter have this also.
My daughter has it on her back, upper arms.
She is so beautiful, it seems insignificant to me. She is bothered by it. Using a natural luffa(sp?) sponge helps.
I was told by doctors that there is no cure, too. Hereditary. Plugged hair folicles!
I try to remind my daughter she could suffer from far worse in life.
Hang in there.

Have you tried going to a dermatologist?
