Hi everyone, I was hoping that somebody would be able to give me some help. I have been experiencing severe upper back pain in between my should blades for most of this week. I have always had a lot of problems in that area in the past. I have even been to physical therapy for this area in the past. I have been seeing a chiropractor for this and general upkeep since I was 13. In the past, I usually found relief. However, I went 3 times to the chiropractor this week and NEVER got relief. It almost feels as if a nerve is pinched (which I have had before), he says that he can't find anything wrong. He just tells me to rest, use moist heat, stretch it, and strengthen it. I have been doing all of the following for a long time, since I have been experiencing this for a long time. I have a Doctor's appointment scheduled for next week, I plan to ask for an MRI. I am only 23 years old and I am in so much pain that I can't even lift my arms over my head or turn my head. Have anybody every seen this before. Somebody Please Help! IP: Logged |

You are doing the right thing by having an MRI. I had this same problem after a car accident, and don't recommend going to the chiro. I went for 6 months with minimal relief. Mine was found to be severe muscle strain, I also could not lift my arms above my head, I had severe pains going across my upper back, and could not move my head. If the MRI does not show any disk problems, I only recommend physical therapy, as this is the only thing that helped me. But the therapy I received was deep tissue massage, where they took the knots out by massaging them by hand. Traction and exercises when it was this severe, only aggravated my problem. Please let us know the results of your MRI, and we may be able to help you further with treatments that have worked for us. IP: Logged |

Amanda.. Hi sweetie and welcome to the board i'm more of a lower back person I have had two lower levels fused. But from what you describe it does sound like traped nerve or muscle . I have had simular thing from what you describe like cannot lift my arms and limted movement it was terrible but it was Muscle. And specially if i have slept wrong i get pins and needles and arms feel weak to move. I hope it is not disc troubles for your sake it is a long road to ride, but if it is you have found the place to be coz you will have all the support you can get from the peeps here. More peeps will be along to give you there advice or maybe the same experience as you.:bounce: But you won't know untill you have that much needed MRI.. Love pebbles xxx IP: Logged |

Hi everyone, I posted a while back asking about severe upper back pain. Thank you for all your replies, it really helped me knowing that others were experiencing it as well. Well, after missing a week of work and several doctors appointments, I finally had my MRI done and just found out the results. They found a bulging disk in my upper back C5/6. I am going to see the neurosurgeon next week. I was wondering if anyone has been through this before and what my road ahead entails. Amanda IP: Logged |
