It really does work!!! I rather use fresh squeeze lemon, for nice safe result.. not the lemon juice. I did use the lemon juice once before, but it didnt come out that great. Im going to dye my hair again soon in couple of weeks.. with fresh lemon. My hair is naturally blk.. sometimes it becomes brown in the summer heat.. but when i use lemon, my hair becoems golden brown, like the popular color for streaks. u know what i mean?.. IP: Logged |

My mom who naturally had jet black hair said one day i'm sick of my hair and bought some sun in and sprayed it in her hair and a week later she now has light brown hair and is so happy. Just thought i'd add my 2cents. IP: Logged |

how long do u have to keep it on there, and is it just fresh lemons sqeeze into a cup that u put on your hair or what?. i have brown hair (kinda dark) and i DON'T want it blonde.....i just want maybe a shade or so lighter cuz i do not want to over do it, ya know? so how long would i have to keep the lemon juice on my hair?......and also does it only work when u go out into the sun? do u wash it out afterwards? and lastly lol, if u wash it out does your hair turn back to it's normal color or does it just stay that way for a really long time? pheeuuuu (sorry for so many questions). ![]() IP: Logged |

Lemon is natural lightner, a bleaching agent. Acidic. Once you wash your hair, it will not take out the lightening effect. The lightened effect will last until your hair grows out. The longer you leave it on, especially in the sun (heats it up) the ligther the shade it will turn. I personally do not recommend sun in,, for dark hair, as it will turn it orange depending on the length left on your hair. I , myself, apply hydrogen peroxide on a few areas around the frame of my face, either go out in the sun, or blow dry,, works great! Ps: when making your hair darker than its original color its called DYING! when making hair lighter than original color it is called BLEACHING!!! Sorry just one of my pet peeves, lol. ![]() IP: Logged |

AHHHHH!!! Hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle can burn your scalp!! Lemon is a safe alternative - It still takes pigment out, but it's a lot less damaging to the hair. I'm a hairdresser and I've had to fix so many home color screw-ups over the years, and the worst ones seem to be when people try using peroxide or sun-in. IP: Logged |

BetaChi,, I also am a licsensed cosmetologist, specializing and certified in coloring, for 15 yrs now. Lemon is safe as I never disagreed with that aspect, yet, I never said to dump the bottle of hydrogen peroxide on your head (scalp) lol..........I have waist length natural brown hair (medium) and for 10 yrs now have highlighted 'streaks' on each side of my face , simply by gathering the area to lighten and applying the peroxide with a well moistened qtip dipped into my bottle, SIMPLE AND SAFE AS THAT We as 'sister hairdressers' are taught that salon products are always better,,,,,,,,,,just after so many years in the business one finds that this is just not true. Hey sister stylist! I must agree with you, there are many cheap, easy, and at-home alternatives to salon products and services. As a professional, you are a lot more educated as to what will work and is safe, as well as the proper application tecniques, but most people aren't. I guess I was thinking about the clients I get who have done some crazy wack jobs on their own hair using peroxide and sun-in. Once I saw a kid's scalp almost completely scabbed over from peroxide- yuck! So just a word of warning ![]() IP: Logged |
