Hi,
I want to have my nose done to make me more attractive (I currently have a very plain looking nose). I particularly like Sarah-Michelle Gellar's nose shape (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Does anyone know what this type of nose is called?

I don't think there really is a particular name for her nose. But if you can find a close up picture of her, you can take it to a plastic surgeon an tell them that this is the look you want.

excuse me for laughing out loud but that is the funniest thing i have ever heard! noses do not have shape names, unlike the infamous "innie" and "outtie" descriptions of the bellybutton. may i ask how old you are? please don't change your nose because it is "too plain". i use to hate my nose but now i have grown to love the character it gives me.
P.S., you probably don't care but I hate SMG's nose! LOL!

best wishes to you and your nose,
lilabelle

i dont think that plastic surgeons should even consider doing cosmetic surgery on anyone under the age of 18 ...however i do disagree with the person that posted "if you get your nose done no one will notice it"...we live in a society where unfortunately appearance counts..a pretty girl or a handsome guy gets beter treatment better jobs etc...

Ladies I couldn't agree with you more. With about everyone, our likes and dislikes change constantly. You may like your nose in a few years and you may be glad that you didn't change your look. It's the nose you were born with after all! Even if you did decide to go ahead with this surgery, I really doubt that the plastic surgeons could create Sarah Michelle Gellar's nose on you. It may not even look right on your face. There's a certain balance to your face, and it could ruin that look.

By the way, for what it's worth, I can't stand Sarah Michelle Gellar's nose either. Those little points on the end of it aren't all that great in my book!

Does anyone agree that dogging Michelle Gellars nose is the exact same reason this girl wants a nose job in the first place?

I hate to sound rude here but everyone judging Sarah Michelles nose so badly makes this girl feel as though people do her nose the same way.

Totally agree with you guys! Her nose is weird. Ok, I wasn't trying to be rude but well sh's so perfect otherwise.... Anyway, even though I have problems with lots of parts of my body my nose is the one thing I'm actually starting to have faith in. ALL NOSES ARE PERFECT! hehehe Oh and by the way, whoever said that noses don't have names WRONG! They so do I personally, have a button nose some people have a danish nose or a ski slope or a hook..... it's wonderful really.

Sorry Shootingstar but I have to say YOUR WRONG. Noses don't have names. "Button nose and Ski slope, ect." are descriptions not names. If someone went to a surgeon and said they wanted a button nose, their idea of what a button nose looks like and the surgeons idea of what it looks like may be two totally different looks. The reason why is because its a description of what you would want. A name would be specific and exact. Its also like if you were to go to a surgeon and say I want a small nose. Well, the word small would be a description not a name. So, the look that you would want and the surgeons idea of what look you want may be two totally different looks. I could think a button nose looks like one way and you can think it looks like another. Its just a general description.

All righty then. I just thought this---

"excuse me for laughing out loud but that is the funniest thing i have ever heard! noses do not have shape names, unlike the infamous "innie" and "outtie" descriptions of the bellybutton. may i ask how old you are?"

was a little harsh. Especially the whole "how old are you" bit as if it was a totally moronic thing to say. I just meant that I could totally see where she was coming from with that question. Besides haven't you ever come across a description of someone's nose as a certain type?

Hi Shootingstar,
I see what your saying, but it really is based on personal opinion. A description is what it says, just a description. Like I can look at 2 of the same green sweaters, 2 different shades of green and go up to my husband and say, "Go to this store and pick me up the emerald green color sweater." He comes back with the wrong one and I say "You got the forest green sweater, I wanted the emerald green sweater." He can turn around and say, "No, this is emerald green the one I didn't buy is the forest green you didn't want." Well, in that example, it shows that we have 2 different opinions of what each shade looks like to each of us. The one I described as emerald green, he in turn thought it looked like more of a forest green. Now, if I were to say (it would be nice if this next example was true, ha ha) Go to the jewelry store and buy me a diamond pendant. Well, he goes to the store and sees diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and other gems in the case. He brings home a diamond pendant to me. Now, if I were to of said, bring me a white sparkly stone, (which would be a description) he could of came back with a cubic zirconia or a white topaz. In that example, I gave him a name of something specific of what I wanted, not a description so there was no room for error. Thats my only point. Take care

My husband always says he hates her nose too. I guess I never noticed cuz I think she's cute. If I were to get a nose job, I'd want more of a Faith Hill or Michelle Pfeiffer kinda nose. LOL! Fortunately I'm ok with the one I have. If getting a nose job will make you feel better about yourself then by all means go for it. But go to a GOOD surgeon and discuss what he can do to make YOU look your best, not Sarah Michelle Gellar or anyone else. Good luck!

as for sarah michelle geller's nose i say p.u.it stinks but you know what it got me thinking, if she can be a star with such a bad nose the only one worse was cybill shepard then maybe my nose is not that bad. i was considering rhino. i broke my nose and can't breath. buuut after reading so many posts on botched jobs i'm keeping my schnoz after all if it's good enough for buffy it's goo enough for me.

Kalleycat,

How does one "judge" a person's nose? It appeared to me that people were expressing an opinion -- a like or a dislike. Nobody said SMG was a low-down, triflin', cheatin', lyin' jerk. They said she has an ugly nose. From here I'll go to the Net to check it out because now I'm curious.

I agree with Kalleycat 100%. It's easy to argue that the comments here about SMG's nose are just innocuous opinions about like or dislike, but I'd argue that there's a real meanness behind them. Imagine saying this sort of thing to a person you know. These are probably the sort of comments that the person who started this thread fears are being made about her.

And I'm not just saying this because I like SMG's nose She's a pretty girl with a quirky nose, and that is part of her appeal. My advice would be to take what you've got and make the most of it. Don't let the petty judgements people make on the appearance of others bring you down.

First of all, what do mean “plain?” If your nose is already shaped consistently with the rest of the face, and that’s what you mean by “plain,” I don’t see how a surgeon would dramatically improve your looks simply by imitating your nose to a celebrity’s, especially when your face probably has a different shape than SMG’s, chances are. I’ve seen many b/a photos and read a lot of testimonials, but I only saw occasional improvements when the person has had an obvious, unnatural glitch with his/her nose like a noticeable hump on the bridge. What’s the point of having your nose done when chances are you don’t have any more room to pretty up? So, why don’t you reconsider before you jump? There are a lot of people who spend all their extra money on revisions. Not one, but a series of those.

Hi Marla,

Dr. Phil had on his shown a young woman who grew up all her life being teased about her nose. At like 20yrs old, she decided to have it fixed. Well, the surgeon didnt quite do it right (that is putting it mildly) and so he says "I'll fix it". So, she goes into surgery again but this time she is not "put under", because it costs too much and the Doctor wouldnt pay for this. She under goes the 2nd surgery with only a "local" and it still was a botched job. He offers to fix it yet again (I would have been gone for sure)and to put a prothzethic(sp) piece in her nose. Again, she is only under a local. The healing took forever and her nose still looked back. Then, a couple of weeks after the 3rd surgery, she was blowing her nose and a piece of the prothzetic(sp)came out. It was really gross (they had pictures and video). Now her right (or left) side of her nostril has collapsed and she needs another surgery, but cant endure the pain. Needless to say, Dr. Phil has a "top notched" surgeon who offered to fix her nose for free and she doesnt have to stay awake for it. This poor girl is only like 22 years old and she made the biggest mistake of her life and she so regrets it. Thank God I am too afraid to have any Cosmetic surgery done.

JD

Thanks JDtweety, that certainly is frightening. That's why they say you have to go with a reputable surgeon, but even then there's a risk.

Although Michelle's nose is "different", I don't see it being unattractive at all. It helps give her character, and appeal.

Ponder the reasons why Michelle hasn't had her nose changed. She could afford the best of the best plastic surgeons.

Maybe it's just that I'm a guy. You girls sort of can't see the forest for the trees in some ways concerning looks.

I've looked at before and after rhinoplasty photos, and in most every case they looked worse than before. Only when they had an extreme hump or deformity could you say there was an improvement.

Many had not just lost their character, but had that "I've been in a car crash" sort of look.

I like Jodie Foster's profile. Her nose is too long for the likes of some, but it helps make her super attractive in my opinion. Helen Hunt is beautiful as well with her "imperfect" nose.

Male celebrities, such as Robert Redford, Richard Gere, and Tom Cruise have "imperfect" noses, but they're so much more handsome than any guy with a "perfect" nose that I've ever seen.

Attractive is not what you see in a little makeup mirror.

i had my nose done when i was in high school and people kept asking me if my make up was different or if i got a haircut. overall people thought i looked better but couldn't explain why. i think if you do it, look at the work your doctor has done before, and go subtle. it won't be shocking, and shocking is generally bad when it comes to your face. if you are used to seeing yourself in a particular way making a huge change may take a lot of time to get used to, and may make you uncomfortable. i love my nose, it hurt like hell, but if i had to relive the experience- i would. good luck.

DO NOT DISS HER NOSE!!! she is my favourite person in the whole world! I dont get why people get so hung up on the way they look, it is pathetic. I sort of have the same shape nose as Sarah Gellar and I used to think it was weird but now i agree with the other people who say it defines your character, I couldnt imagine me looking any other way than I do right now. I am still ugly though...

Regardless of whether we like SMG, her nose suits her face. So what anybody getting plastic surgery needs to consider is will that nose, breasts or any other odds and ends off the celebrity who you are copying suit you personally. How many times have we taken a cutting out of a magazine to the hair dresser and said i want that style/colour/cut etc and when it was finished thought OMG!!! i want my hair back the way it was.

Some plastic surgeons supposedly will be fairly direct and steer you away from a certain look which wouldn't enhance your appearance, but others are just after your money and would say **** would look good on your face. What ever decision you make, please be careful.

Yes Audrey. Woo hoo! I am glad that someone else agrees with me. I would never have anypart of my body changed. I think that if God wanted us to look like each other, then he would have made us all the same. You are you and Sarah is Sarah. I know it is up to you but what is the point? Why dont you just go and by a mask of Sarah's face and wear it? That is basically what you are doing anyway.
