Hey everyone! I was wondering if any of you have had similar problems and what (if anything) worked to make it go away. What causes spider veins anyway? Does anything make them go away? What about stretch marks?

I had my spider veins removed. I went to a dermatologist office and he injected them with saline. I did not have many, and was only charged $70. I took approximated 15 minutes and did not hurt very much. This was probably 5 years ago. If you want to know anything else, just let me know.

I honestly don't remember what the risks were. I just remember it was super fast and cheap. It was also very effective.

I had several injections (didn't come back) and a vein removed in my right leg (one-day surgery). The blood has to reroute after the veins collapse, so you can get more in other places, but overall, the above poster was right on the mark--it is fairly painless and quick. I had to go to a vascular surgeon to get mine done. The injections were just done in his office and I drove myself home each time afterward.

They say veins below the knee respond best, but those on the thighs sometimes take more than one injection. Mine were all below the knee so I had excellent results the first round on all of them.

My insurance covered the whole thing because my regular doctor referred me due to leg pain. It wasn't for cosmetic reasons, which in that case it would not have paid for them.

The procedure is called injection sclerotherapy.

I'm not sure it was saline per se that was injected into my veins (it was many years ago), but it did cause the veins to collapse and cease functioning. The blood then finds another means to reroute. It did wonders for my leg pain, and of course the veins are no longer prominent because the blood is taking a different route.

Do you know anyone who had spider veins removed from their face? Does it need to be done under a microscope? Is it a tiny little needle?

for small spider veins such as the type that occur on the face i think that they tend to use laser on them, but they do have very fine needles that they use on small veins. this is what i was told when i was looking into it.

I had a bunch of spider veins (raised capillaries) removed from my face. The dermatologist used a very fine needle, and a tiny blast of electricity. It's actually kind of funny because everytime you get hit with the electricity, your face contorts. Don't worry, it doesn't stay that way! But the spider veins disappear for good!
I had one treatment, ten spider veins, 10 minutes, fifty bucks.

Annee, what exact procedure did you use?

I've done sclerotherapy with no positive results and two way overpriced laser sessions for the minimal change they provided. I've got a patch on my cheek that I've had since I was a child and I'm really tired of my only decent option being concealer.
