i also had a problem with that occasionally. i started using Neutragena's body clear wash. and it is great. I use one of those fluffy scrubby things. just pour a little on the scrubby and scrub your back. it foams up really good. i have been using this product for about 2 months everytime i shower, and not a single blemish ever since. Good luck

I had a big problem with this... and i added to it as well by going tanning and basically laying in my own sweat for 15 minutes, exercising heavily for an hour a day..... etc.... i use the phisoderm body wash with a poof.... and just scrub the hell outta your back basically.. the skin is thicker then most other areas so in order to really deep clean you have to scrub... and then apply topical creams if necessary.. but i didnt even find it necessary it cleared up within 5-7 days!!!

a 2% salicylic solution works for me. I had back acne very severe as a teen and took accutane for it which got rid of it until just the last year, however I still always had acne on my face until I discovered J&J's Clean and Clear invisible blemish treatment and since I've been using that my face stays clear so figured when I started getting back acne again I'd give it a try for that too and it works. Lately I've just been using the salicylic astringent because it's easier to spread on my back and dries quickly and doesn't leave that sort of slick feeling the invisible blemish treatment does (I just use a very thin layer of that on my face at night before going to bed) and the astringent seems to work great. I had cystic acne so it was very painful as well as unnattractive and this stuff cleared it right up for me... I have to keep using it though! There are lots of options of the salicylic solutions at the drugstore, but I think the clean and clear is the cheapest. Make sure it's 2% because a lot of them are only 0.5% which I don't think would be strong enough for back acne (at least not mine!)... at first I was dabbing it on a few times a day with a cotton ball (a little goes a long way) but once I cleared up I just use it at night every other night and haven't had any problems. I tried scrubbing, but it only made my back acne worse as well as causing bleeding and scabbing (even when I was gentle).

I suffered from moderate back acne from the age of 13-17. It wasn't absolutely awful, but it was bad enough that I wouldn't wear a bathing suit without a t shirt over it! It gradually cleared up as I got older, and now at 22 I never have a breakout. What I learned:

1) use an acne wash (I always used clearasil foaming cleanser) like you would for your face and nothing else.

2) steer clear of lotions on the back

3) VERY important, and alot of people dont think of this. Wash your back the VERY last thing in the shower so you don't have any residue from other things on there. Conditioner for my hair would especially aggrevate my "bacne" LOL.

I just used a puffy thing and used the acne cleanser like body wash on my back. It helped alot. It didn't get rid of all of them, but it did help. -- I have also heard that the Nuetrogena BodyClear stuff is really good. I've never tried it because they didn't have that then. But good luck. I know how embarrassing it can be.
