Hi - I have been taking Adderol for 4 years and took Ritalin in high school for about 4 years (with a 2 year gap inbetween) I am now suffering from Repetitive Stress Injuries from my computer etc, but also all the muscles in my neck and back are so tight that they are constricting the nerves, I am in increasingly more and more pain every day - then I decided to take a break from adderol and it doesnt hurt as much today. I am wondering if taking basically amphetamines every day (Adderol) could be causing this - and if anyone has a similar story. IP: Logged |

After reading through other posts - I am thinking that I am also much more likely to be irritable and angry since I started Adderol - I am also 28 yr old female - anyone have any advice? I would consider Ritalin again because I wasnt in so much muscle pain (started 2 years in to Adderol) but the swing effect from RItalin was much worse. IP: Logged |

Well, I take adderall XR and haven't had those side effects; although, it no doubtedly can increase stress due to raising norepinephrine and stress is somewhat chemically 'close' (epinephrine=adrenaline=fight or flight response). Then again it can decrease stress due to decreasing AD/HD symptoms. I think you answered your own question better than anyone else could. Stop taking it and see what happens, if your problems decrease, start taking it again to see if they increase (to see if it's psychological) and if they do stop it again and if the symptoms do decrease again try a medication not as close in the chemical family. Ritalin is a good choice it is a CNS stimulant and not an amphetamine like adderall. Even though they both are CNS stimulants there is a difference between the two. Another option (not as effective as stimulants)are antidepressant action medications that help AD/HD, like Strattera, Wellbutrin, or the tricyclic class of ADs. IP: Logged |

I've only been on Adderal 2 months but so far it is working well with no side effects. I had severe side effects with methylphenidate (Generic Ritalin) and Concerta. Haven't noticed any increase in aggression outside of the normal level I don't know, but why does the following picture remind me of ME? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/blob_fire.gif Be Encouraged and Blessed!
