Hi Everyone, I have been posting to some of you so I decided to start my own to keep you all posted. Been taking 25 hydro 10mg a day for 3 yrs. Tried the taper route, but could never break the 7-8 a day without the severe withdraw. Got a script for Suboxone. Took my last pill at 6:00 pm yesterday. Was supposed to wait 24 hrs to take the Sub, but was feeling yucky by 10:00 am the chills, sweats so I just dissolved a 1/2 tab and now feel like my sweatsare worse...maybe I should have waited...that is really all I am feeling right now is just sweaty. I will wait a few hours and take another 1/2 of a tab. For those of you that have gone the Sub route, please advise. Terri IP: Logged |

Preski, You were taking the equivalent of 250mgs of hydrocodone a day. A half a tab (4mgs) is not going to do you much good when you have such a high tolerance. Is that what the doctor prescribed? My addictionologist initially prescribed 16 mgs and we continued to move up until we got the cravings and symptoms under control at 24 mgs. The one thing I've noticed is that the doctors seem to be underprescribing the medication at first. If you are getting the right dose of the suboxone, your symptoms should go away within 30 minutes (mine did). You may want to check with your doc to see if you can up your dosage. DO NOT MAKE THAT DECISION ON YOUR OWN. Take care and keep us posted on your progress, ------------------ IP: Logged |

Good Morning Terri- Should you have waited until tonight like you said that you suppose to? Please follow the program as instructed & call the Doc. if you are having problems. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. I REALLY want this to work for you! If you are getting worried, just take a look at the board & read how may people it has worked for. There is no reason that it should not work for you. Stay storng & keep us posted. Hopefully at this time next Friday I will be able to say that I'm on suboxone too. Rudder IP: Logged |

Hey Guys, Thanks for your support. Verylucky, you are right...maybe I have to just keep taking the Sub until the withdraws are gone. Although I don't feel too bad, just sweaty and chills other than that spirits pretty good. Maybe a bit depressed. Will take another 1/2shortly and the doc has said that I can go to 16 mg a day and then call him if I need more. Rudder, from what i have been reading with other people, I am glad I have the Sub as after not having a pill for over 18 hrs, I don't feel so bad. Terri IP: Logged |

Well guys it is now 2:00 pm and I am still doing ok, a little of the chills, but not too bad, even went to take a walk to get my 6 yr old from bus. Did take 1/2 of the Sub so I have taken 8mg today. I will probably take another 1/2 here shortly to see if I can feel even better, but so far so good. This is the longest I have ever been with a pill...feels kinda weird...facing the real me...lots of emotions..miss the numbness, the high, but I would rather be normal so I can have a decent relationship and take better care of my children. Terri, Did your doc tell you to divide the doses up like that? The suboxone has a very, very long half-life. Therefore, most of the doctors like for you to take the entire day's dose at one time. Just curious. Take care, IP: Logged |

Congratulations! I have been on Suboxone since March. My habit was huge, 25-30 vic's a day for 6 years. For some reason, I started with 1 2mg pill a day. It has always worked for me. I honestly don't know why I am able to survive on such a small dose, but I do. Although if I sweat alot, like when I exercise, I might have to take an extra quarter pill. I have never had any withdraw. Not one minute. I take half a pill when I get up in the morning or 1mg and then I take 1mg in the afternoon. I feel great. This is the first time in my life, I am 37, that I haven't been depressed, needy and cranky. I have so much more zest for life now. I wish I had done this years ago. I know that Suboxone is also being looked at for depression. I have taken ever kind of antidepressant they make and nothing has worked like this. I have always been so needy, like always having to have a boyfriend, picking the wrong guys and falling in love on day one. Now, life is so different. I think this medicine has changed my life, it can change yours too. Hang in there. I think I was the first person that came on this board or one of the first to have gone on the Suboxone and now a lot of people are on it. There are so many wonderful stories of success. Last Christmas I posted a thread about how depressed I was and how bad I wanted to get off the pills. This women responded to me with her story and told me how she got off of them and how great life was now for her and if I was patient, "by next Christmas you can feel the same way I do now". I am so very happy to say that "I made it". It feels so wonderful to have that burden off my chest. Hang in there kido, you can do this! Keep us posted on your success. Ps, I have a 6 year old too and I can't tell you how much more I enjoy her now that I am clear headed!....Stacy IP: Logged |

Hey Stacy, Thanks for posting your success story. For the last 3 years since my youngest daughter was born I have been addicted to these...I have not wanted to do much other than what I absolutely had to do over the last few years, ex. grocery store, school stuff, etc. Definitely no social life...used to be very social and these pills just made me hide. Felt like a fake. My poor girls have suffered the fact that they have had a drug addict for a mom for the last 3 years. I am getting clean for them. I have taken 1 1/2 tab of the Sub today (12mg) and feel ok, but still feel clammy and sweaty. The good news is that I have had no other withdraw symptom and my cravings for the coffee and cigs have dwindled(was smoking almost 2 packs a day) and drinking about 3 pots of coffee along with 25 pills, not eating hardly anything, it is amazing I have made it to my 40th bday last week. I must be here for some reason and I intend to find out what it is as soon as I feel better. Am a bit fatigued, but can function. Poor Chris,(one of the woman on the board from TX has a 7 yr old boy and a jerk husband) is really suffering right now without any help locally and I feel so bad for her. It is so important to have support. My mom and dad and all of my friends have been very supportive, although my ex does not know as he would throw it in my face the next time he got pissed at me. Well it has almost been 24 hrs since my last pill, I am so glad to hear how good you are doing and will hope to be an inspiration to others here as well when I get back to feeling the real me, whoever that is. I am so proud of you.I have never taken the drug your currently taking but have read so many good things about it.I also wanted to add one of the first things I wanted to do when I started my taper was walk to the bus stop.I havent done that in years.I do not think you are or have been a bad parent.I feel we are all good parents with the drug or without so do not beat yourself up.I just think sometimes we make choices that arent in the best interest.I think you should live for the furture you are making a really good effort to come clean and I think that takes a real person so you must be a good person!!!!Tina IP: Logged |

Terri- Checking out for the night. Taking the kids for pizza & a movie. You mentioned that you have not been doing much outside of the house because of pills. As part of your change for the better, you should take the kids out & do somthing fun. "Get out of Dodge" even for a few hours & leave those old habbits behind w/ the pills. Like Bill Murry said in the movie "What About Bob" Be Well! Todd IP: Logged |

Todd, Well day 2 almost 48 hours, the kids are with Daddy so I can just hang and relax. Have been crying all day...probalby because the pills have kept me so numb for so long(of course, that was the point, right). I have only taking 1/2 tab of the Sub this am and just took another 1/2 just now to see if I feel better. Been feeling ok, except depressed and a bit tired, clammy...hopefully as each day passes I will get better, have the worst headache from crying of everything I have missed out on over the last 3 years. Not to brag, but I am a very successful, attractive woman with alot to offer, but I know I cant have a "real" relationship with ANYONE until I overcome this horrible addiction and get my act together. My kids are my savior, but I have felt so alone. Wish I could just have a shoulder to cry on if you know what I mean. I am so glad I have you guys to talk to. You are right, I have got to get better so I can go out and do something fun...would do it right now if I had the pills to keep me going...or would I? Terri IP: Logged |

Terri, The suboxone should be helping with the depression. I still have the feeling that you should be taking a large dose all at once as opposed to spreading the doses out. Have you discussed this with your doc? I'm not kidding, the depression, cravings, w/d symptoms, everything went away withing 30 minutes after I took a 16 mg dose. Hang in there. You obviously have a lot to offer but you will never get the chance to offer anything to anyone (especially your kids) unless you stay away from the pills. Please keep your eye on the prize. We are all pulling for you. IP: Logged |

i agree with lucky that you are takin way to small a dose for the habit you had.my dr said that just about everybody should start out on 16mgs first then it can be adjusted up or down.if you stay on to small a dose then you are goin to have w/ds no way about it.i would take the amount the dr scribed all at one time in the mornin then if ya neeed more later take a small pinch with some alleve-spark IP: Logged |

Verylucky, So you think I should go ahead and take another whole pill(8mg) all at once instead of splitting? My doc said that if the 16 mg a day wasn't helping he would give me more, but he is the one that told me to start with the 1/2 a pill every 2hours or so. I am ok, but still very clammy and crying alot. I have already taken a 1/2 a pill this am and then another 1/2 a few hours ago. Terri IP: Logged |

this isnt vl but if the doc scribed 16mg i would take it all at once if you have had no side effects as of yet.it will not hurt you to do this and if ya still feel bad then teel dr to up the dose.you are in severe w/ds at this very moment and ya need the 16mg imo.you should feel normal if the dose is right no clammy fellings, depression, nothin.thats the way it worked for me-spark IP: Logged |

Terri, By all means, you should do what your doctor says. It's just that is unusual for someone on the suboxone to continue to have some of the symptoms of withdrawal. Maybe, you should check with your doc and see what his/her thoughts are on taking your entire dose at once. I know it works for me. Good luck and take care, IP: Logged |

Well guys I think you were right about not taking enough of the Sub. I just took a whole tab 8mg which brings me to 16 mg today and I seem to be feeling better. Actually have the energy to go take a shower and wash my distugusting dirty hair. The weather is beautiful so I think i will go lay on the hammock outside by the pool. Question? I have developed serious dental problems from this problem of the pills. Almost every single one of my molars has decayed and I need 2 root canals and 8 crowns so just add another 6,000 dollars to this whole mess. The doc said that is a very commom problem with people taking the hydro like we have been. Have any of you experienced this? Terri IP: Logged |

Todd, Geuss what movie I am watching right now..."wHAT ABOUT BOB"!!! Is that not hilarious that it is on right now and I am cracking up...feel pretty good, my ex just brought the kids by and brought me some soup and salad from the Outback..he thinks I have a flu bug...atleast that is what I have been telling him. He was an ass when we were together, but is pretty ok now as long as he can see kids frequently and I am not dating anyone. God forbid, if I ever find someone special as He has a bad temper problem and would tell my kids ugly things about me..he is on good behavior as long as he may think I might take him back which of course is why I got addicted to these damn things anyway! So that would be a HUGE NO WAY! Terri IP: Logged |

Good to hear that more and more people are finding out about Suboxone. You will NOT FAIL!!!I have been Vicoden free for 7 months now.I never craved another pill after i started the Suboxone.I did feel out of sorts for awhile, but it passes as time goes on.I did have some sleeping problems when i stopped the Suboxone, but other than that the w/d's were mild.I know it is the oldest saying in the book but you have to just take it one day at a time. Was it easy?...no...Was it worth it?YES.I can also relate to the crying thing.Watch HURT...the music video that JOHNNY CASH did before he died,I CRY everytime i see it.PRESKI if there are any questions you might have i would be glad to answer them.GOOD LUCK ON TAKING BACK YOUR LIFE...DUSTIN IP: Logged |

Hey Guys, Almost 72 hours now, no pills! The Sub definitely works, but I know that you were right verylucky and spark as when I took a higher dose this am, I didn't seem to feel the clammy feeling. I think that would be fine with my doc, he just wanted me to try 1/2 at a time as some people do fine with 4 mg and with some it takes more. I obviously need more. I am still going through the crying thing though. Is it depression or maybe just the lack of numbness and the guilts? I am already taking Zoloft for the depression. One minute fine, the next minute watching a TIDE COMMERCIAL ON TV AND IF THE CLOTHES DON'T COME CLEAN, I AM BALLING!!!LOL What do you think? I will call doc tomorrow to check in with him and let him know how it is working. He is really cool. I am so lucky to have found him as it takes weeks to get in to see him, but my mom is also his primary card doc and had a relationship with the staff there to pull strings. This is a HUGE reason we all need to have as many people pulling for us as possible. I feel so bad as yesterday I totally forgot my dad's bday IP: Logged |

Have been on suboxone 32mg since July. I had been taking 40 pills a day for 7 years, of vicodin 750mg or 1000mg and norco and ultram and tyln#3 darvocet...anything i could get. I use to page doctors on Sundays the best day to do so call a dentist and explain how i saw him 3 months ago (when i know i never saw him in my life) and blah blah blah i got a tooth ache next thing i know i got 30 pills, but that was for what 1 day, so then i woudl go to the ER, it got so bad that all the er hospitals and drug stores new me by first name. BAD...anyhow the sub is awesome it has changed my life so much!!! I do sweat alot and crave sweets! I never use to eat chocolate, but now....ha ha i eat it all the time, but i have lost weight as well, another side effect is i can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Actually I have come accross vicodin about 4 times since i stopped and just waled away, i was tempted but i walked! First time i had picked up my friend from the hospital and dropped her at home, well she by mistake left her prescriptuons in ym car and one was for vicodin, i could have easily went to walgreens and got that sucker filled! Another was at work this girl had her makeup bag opened and there was a vicodin right there in front of my eyes! i asked her to move it. I try to help people, i got this one girl at work on sub as well she use to crave vicodin and went and saw my doc they got her on 16mg a day. My doc just said to me last week to start thinking about medical withdrawl slowly coming off 32mg, at like 1/2 pill per month...very very slow. But im not ready yet at all! that thought scares the hell out of me. But i have to stop some day i know ![]() ask me anything chicago girl IP: Logged |

Wow, i'm very impressed by all of you for taking the step to eliminate the pain pills from your life. Im addicted to about 8 10mg Norco a day and want to get off, but i have to have a spine fusion in december, so i know ill be taking pain medication for a few months after that. but i hate it!!! it does take control of your life. I want that peppy feeling again... waking up full of energy ready to accomplish a lot during the day. Now i wake up just wanting a Norco so i can start the day. None of my friends or co-workers understand what im going thru so it's nice to have found this website!! Ya'll are remarkable for stepping up and doing this. The hardest part is to finally try and put an end to it. I start to wonder if i will ever feel like i used to???? Is there a chance, without medication, ill never get that feeling back?? Thanks to all for taking the time to help each other!! Davis IP: Logged |

yes there is a good chance you will never feel normal again.depends on how many brain cells you have burned out over the years, then again you might not have any side effects but you will have to be clean for at least a year before you will be able to tell anything about it.havin to be clean a year is what makes alot of us have a relapse-spark IP: Logged |

Hey Todd, Feeling much better today..I did go to 3 tabs a day which is 24mg...the doc said to go to two, but that he would up it if it wasn't doing the trick. I will call him tomorrow to let him know. I bet you are looking forward to your appt. By the way, what do you do for a living? My girls are home and behaving, thank god as I am still a little tired, but I did pull some weeds in the garden yesterday. I think I am going to rally with my brother who is a doc to get these internet pharmacies that prescribe these narcotics shut down. I would have never got to this point if they were not so willing to send them in the mail to me. Terri IP: Logged |

Hey Terri.... UGH--do I know what you meant about the teeth....seems like every time I eat ANYTHING, it instantly becomes hard and crunchy, (from a piece of tooth in there somewhere)--and yeah, it is a common problem. The only eight I have left that are fully in tact, are the eight on top in the front....sucks, cuz I'm a good lookin' fella'. ;o) (gotta try to keep my sense of humor here.) =) The worst part is, is that back when they started to get real bad, I had coverage still, and went to the dentist--he wouldn't do it for some reason until my back surgery was complete....has anyone ever heard of THAT???? It made no sense to me whatsoever!! (Was gonna have full implants done--a full surgery.) There's just a lot of stuff I cant figure out anymore....half of these Docs should really be hung. Anyway Terri, you said something before too that caught my eye, you said your kids were your saviors....just keep thinking that, really. I have three--I'm a single dad....looking into their eyes every day is what gives me each and every single ounce of strength that I can muster up when I need it. Honestly. When I feel myself starting to slip, all it takes is one look at them, and bingo--I snap right back. Good Luck--and stay strong. You Can do this....everything is SOOOOOO much nicer when it's over, trust me--I never thought it could be this good. Really. INX IP: Logged |

INX, Thanks so much for your reminder about my children...I am a single mom too and it makes it much more challenging not to have a partner there with you when things are going so great. I have two girls, 3 and 6 and so they still need me to do alot for them. The Suboxone has helped tremendously. I am at 24 mg a day and have my next appt with the doc in early Nov. He wants me to stay on this for 6 months, but as long as I feel normal(which is now without the pills), I wouldn't care if I stayed on it the rest of my life. Had to go to dentist today..need 2 root canals, 8 crowns...YUCK! Todd, Dear Out of Control, IP: Logged |

Terri, Thanks for your reply the doc seems to want to make this as comfortable as possible for me so the only thing I can think of is maybe he had a negative response with a person in a similar situation as me? But he did say he was all for the sub and as soon as I am stable he will start working to move me over. I saw him again today so he could see if I needed a higher dose I was a little uncomfortable but tolerable so we decided to stay here for now. You know thinking about it the other reason he said meth was a good idea is because my habit started with a never ending pain due to boldgeing disks in the neck and he said this would control that also. But he did say he felt my dose was too high for the sub to be comfortable. i am very glad you are doing so well on the sub it will make for a happy helthy life thanks for the info have a great night. ,ted IP: Logged |
