Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? I know his book says that people with bad livers should not be on this diet, but it didnt make any references to it having any bad side effects. Please let me know. I love the diet lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks and really would like to stay on it if it isnt going to harm me.

I have found no scientific evidence to indicate that a low carbohydrate diet is harmful in any way. I've been doing this low carb way of life (I don't consider it a "diet" anymore) for almost 3 years. I get full blood tests once per year (required for my job) and there has never been anything abnormal show up. In fact, my cholesterol went down on this diet from 198 to 186.

Balogi,
If it is recommended that people should "NOT" go on this diet if they already have some form of liver or kidney disfunction, then doesn't common sense tell you that there "IS" an increased stress to these particular organs?

Just because Mr./Mrs. X can be on this diet and not currently have any adverse condition, does not mean stress/toxicity (etc.) will eventually take its toll.

"Balanced" eating does "NOT" cause stress to "ANY" organs, if the body is being fed the way nature intended.
