Hi!

My name is Patti and I am a personal trainer and hope to help.

The first thing I would want to know is how tall are you? do you exercise, and how often and what are your typical eating habits like?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Patti

it's a little hard to explain what kind of exercises i do on the total gym. i usually eat an orange for breakfast or a pack of pop tarts or cracker sandwiches. lunch: fries or chips & water or tea. dinner: whatever my mom fixes. i'm losing inches but my weight is still the same.

We need more information.

You're 15 and 5'5", but how much do you actually weigh? Also, are you male or female?

My understanding of the total gym is that its used for weight or resistance training. You need to work in some cardio to keep your heart healthy.

Also, your daily habits are not at all healthy. You need to eat a more balanced diet. To get an idea of a balanced diet, look at the food pyramid. I'll assume that "whatever my mom fixes" includes vegetables of some sort .. so you're getting 1 serving each of fruits and vegetables. You're supposed to get 2 fruits and 3 vegetables, minimum, a day. Chips are not a food group. Neither are pop-tarts. While its ok to eat things like that on occassion, they are not meals.

If you're only choices at lunch are two hamburger joints, why don't you make your own lunch and bring it along?

My suggestion is to talk to your parents about seeing a nutritionist or at least to take you to your GP for a checkup and some diet advice.

I suggest that you eat a bigger breakfast. Most of your calories taken in during the day should come from breakfast, since your metabolism is highest in the morning. I'm glad that you're eating fruit for part of your breakfast, but just make sure you eat more! Also, I suggest that you have a parent pack your lunch. A deli sandwich and a snack (or a couple) will do fine. Dinner should be a lighter meal than breakfast and lunch was. Hope you reach your goal!
