Hi, I know I am in need of a dental teeth scaling, I've known this for about 2 years now, but I have not been able to afford this procedure because I have no insurance. Now, my gums hurt under my teeth sometimes, and I wonder if a chronic pain under my jaw and around my glands is a side effect from not having this procedure done yet? It also hurts when I yawn, feels like my glands in my throat are being stretched. If anyone has any information concerning this, it would be greatly appreciated. Stella IP: Logged |

Hi, Stella. I would make an appointment with your dentist ASAP. By waiting, the problem is getting worse. I have no idea how bad it is now, but by waiting it might end up being more expensive to treat...work out a financial arrangement with your dentist beforehand, if need be. Good luck to you....Deb IP: Logged |

i had it done and my mouth feels much better now. they remove all the plaque and it feels really clean. the dentist tried to use some type of drill but it hurt so he did it all by hand. i was given injections of Lidocaine to cope with the procedure. hope this helps. IP: Logged |

Pinkcat thank you for telling me your story. I am so nervous about calling and actually saying I'm ready now. I don't know, I am afraid they will find other stuff which will mean more money. How many days were you in pain, and do you have any suggestions as to how to eat or not eat after it? Stella IP: Logged |

there was no pain with the procedure. didn't even have to take tylenol. when they do scaling that's all they do. they can't do a bunch of other things because they are busy getting all the plaque off. the first periodontist i went to was going to do the scaling in quad sections but i had the entire procedure done at once at a dental school. hope this helps. p.s. i had pain during the procedure because my teeth are in bad condition. the dentist stopped using the drill or whatever they use to get plaque off the teeth and used dental instruments because i couldn't stand the drill. i insisted on injections because i am facing extensive dental work so my mouth is sensitive. it's really not bad at all compared to other procedures. if your mouth needs work on it you might want to ask beforehand for injections to numb the areas. hi stella, glad you are getting it done. your mouth will feel better afterwards. the first periodontist i saw was going to do it in sections but he was too expensive so i had it done all at once at a dental school and it wasn't bad at all. good luck. pinkcat IP: Logged |
