Hey guys - After I had my little crisis this afternoon and freaked out about taking so many drugs I ran in to another problem. I'm taking 6 meds. I'm on medicaid and am only allowed 3 prescriptions a month, the rest you have to pay full price for. I've heard of patient assistance programs where the drug companies give free meds if you're eligible. All the ones I've found so far (offered straight from the drug companies - pfiezer, aventis, etc) require that you can't have any prescription health insurance. I have the insurance, but it won't cover it all. Any ideas???

Lanalane, I was wondering if you read my reply to your last post. From what you had posted, it sounded as though you were starting to have a good awareness of the harmful effects of taking so many meds and I even felt hopeful that you didn't seem to be in denial of the consequences. The impression I got was that you really wanted to get out of a routine that you knew was not good for you. I'm just a little surprised now at this new post and would really like to hear some feed back from you if possible.

gar fla -
As scared as I am about taking all the meds, I really don't feel like I have a choice right now. It really is the fastest way to deal with SI(self-injury) behavior and suicidal thoughts. My pdoc said once I get stabelized we can look at reducing the drugs, but he wants to concentrate on stabelization first. Trust me, I don't plan to be on this much for long - it really freaks me out to even think that I'm on it now, but I guess if this is the fastest way to get myself in check I have to do it.
By the way, I did try a lot of the alternative options a couple of years ago. I think it was St. John's wort and Sam-E and something else. I did it for about 6 months and never noticed a difference unfortunately.

thanks for your reply!

Hey good to hear from you again. The Salvation Army here has a medication program but I'm not sure what all you have to do to qualify. So how are you doing? Write back and let me know.
