I have been walking twice a day (first thing in the morning, and in the evening)1/2-45 min. each. I usually walk 2-3 miles and average a 12-13 min. mile. I have been trying to slim down for the past 6 months. I have gone from a size 9 to a size 2, 3/4. I am very happy with my weight loss, but my legs are still bulky to me. What are good exercises to slim these thighs down? BTW I do not do gyms, and the only weights I have are soup cans and other household items. If it involves money, I can't do it. So I'm basically looking for exercise techniques.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if you want to lose any more weight or just tone the area up..... If you want to tone the area up try wall squats along with lunges... Works wonders...

J2B..... I thought squats would just bulk up the muscle. I still want to lose weight on my thighs, and I don't want them getting any bigger due to exercise. Are squats right for me?

The only way you can bulk up your muscles is if you eat enough...

Hi SabresLover.....

I walk twice a day, as well as ride my bike and swim whenever I get the chance. I have changed my eating patterns. I always eat a good breakfast AFTER I workout, usually eggs with veggies and maybe some fresh tomatoes, basil and feta (takes only 5 min to cook). I snack on yogurt and veggie sticks throughout the day. I have a sandwich or just some lunch meat for lunch. I don't use mayo, bacause I would rather have cheese. I don't cheat myself of anything, if i HAVE to have ice cream, I do, I just don't eat the whole carton, lol. I just have a good outlook on life, and I know i will accomplish what I set out to do, and it always just ends up working. I think the best thing I have done is powerwalk in the morning before I eat, and I drink about 4 liters of water throughout the day. If you have any other questions email me: ashlin24@hotmail.com. I don't mind sharing with you my plan step by step =) have a good one!

I also recommend squats and lunges. They will not add bulk... they would only tone and your legs. This will make your leges less flabby and finally they would look better and healthier.

What about the calves? My legs are pretty skinny and I would like to have more bulk or shapely legs. I've started jogging and I do a few lunges.. is that enough?

Calf raises would work... Do them off the stairs with weight on your shoulders.. 3 sets of 8-12 reps..

Hi there,

Until about 8 months ago I had legs that looked like beer bottles turned upside down! Seriously! I took up walking on the advice of a friend and now walk 8km (5 miles) 6 days per week. It was VERY tough early on, I can tell you! I perservered and now walk through quite a hilly forest area near my home but I walk fast and hard, to be blunt, I punish myself. On occasions I'll even jog some of the way. When I get home, I really feel exhausted but that subsides after a few minutes. I now have legs like an olympic athlete, long, lean and very muscularly defined. You need to really work hard though, change your walking surface to include some hills and don't decrease pace. I'm amazed by my results but I've earned them through hard work and commitment. Oh, and I don't EVER eat breakfast until I've finished my walk.

Thanks for your reply Aussie TOM, I really enjoy walking. I try and walk 5 days a week 2-3 miles, and I will try and jump that up to 5 miles and look for a mroe hilly surface, thanks for all your advice =)
