Do any of you with FM get blood blisters in your mouth or other places on your body?
I haven't bitten myself or anything but sometimes I get these blood blisters in my mouth for no apparent reason. I get them other places occasionally too.
I have FM I was diagnosed a little under a year ago.
I am having a flare up right now, I live in CA and it has been rainy here. It always makes me worse.
Thanks for the help.
Blessings,
Kathy

Hi Kathy;
I get those too, in my mouth and other places.
I also have been suffering from cold sores... in my nose af all places since I have had FM.
I live in Canada, but use a powder canker sore med on them non perscription from the pharmacy.
It is made by Squibb, and it tasts like licorice.
Maybe an herbal version is available in the health food stores.
It will contain Anise.
Hope this helps.

I get tons of canker sores inside my mouth. I have never had a cold sore on my lips, but at times (especially when I am stressed out), my mouth will be covered in sores.

Yes, I too get blood blisters in my mouth - about one a week or so. This just started happening. I was diagnosed with FM a year ago. I'm still not sure this is what is causing my problems.

I get sores on my tongue, of all places. The doctor calls it glossitis. Also, I have a cold sore present almost ALL THE TIME on my upper lip. It gets worse at times, but never completely goes away.

Thanks for all the replies! I don't get them often but they are weird, they look like a blood blister and don't hurt. I also get canker sores at times but these are different.
Blessings,
Kathy

N2Golf,

About the canker sores and treating them.. Usually, I will rinse with baking soda and water and/or just apply the baking soda directly to the sores. Recently however, the sores were down my throat and it was nearly impossible to treat. They get worse with stress (which lately I have had a lot of), so I have them in my mouth all the time right now.

As far as getting diagnosed for FM, just keep reading these postings and you will get an idea of just how impossible it can be. So many of us struggle with Doctors and with not being heard. You also asked if it was serious. I think I can speak for most of us and say that it is very serious. It has changed my life, actually, it has consumed my life. I wake up every morning wondering if today will be like it was yesterday. I could go on forever, but I hope I answered a little of your questions.

JD

I have fibromyalgia as a result of having Behcets Disease and my body being under such serious stress for years. I get sores, but they are Behcets sores. They feel like someone is holding a lit cigarette in my mouth. Hopefully yours are not as painfull, but if they are there are things you can do. For starters, over-the-counter Carmex works wonders for sores on your lips (I'm not sure if you're supposed to use it on mucous membranes, but I did out of desperation and it worked for me. My dr says it wouldn't hurt me). It has something called salicylic acid in it, which is a chemical used in aspirin and as a fungicide and my dr figured that must be the ingredient that was working. The sores went away much quicker. It may burn a bit at first because it has camphor and menthol in it, but after the initial burn it actually feels much less painful than before application. It also keeps your lips moisturized, which helps. I don't know about you, but I know when I get sores on my lips, if my lips dry out its a lot more painful.

If your sores are inside, or down your throat, there's a prescription your dr can prescribe. I'll give it to you exactly as it is on my bottle (they're all abbreviations):
BNDL/XYLO/MYL/MYCO 1OZ EA
One teaspoonful swish and swallow 5x a day
This liquid will numb out your entire mouth, and if you swallow it slowly (letting it basically drip down your throat), it numbs out your throat too. It'll kill the pain for a while.
Hope this helps.
Elizabeth

Disabled..

Welcome to the boards and thank you for the information. That was the first time I had ever had canker sores in my throat, but if it ever happens again, I will talk to my DR. about that medicine. Thanks again, and good luck to you..

Hi All
Lysine is a wonderful vitamin for canker sores in the mouth. I take just like the directions say.

Do any of you notice a dry tongue or patches on your tongue?

Thanks, and I hope the info helps.

I also get the blood blisters on my arms for no apparent reason, and the blisters on my tongue, gums, and throat seem to come in cycles. I went to my doctor while they were active and saw his Nurse Practitioner. She told me to swish Maalox in my mouth, and to gargle with Antiseptic Mouth wash that had Thymol in it. You can find this anywhere and even the store brands have it, it's usually the blue mouth wash. But believe me IT WORKS! In just a day's time I'm rid of the sores!
