Hi everyone,
I get migranes constantly and some of them are brought on by neck pain(c5/6 disc bulge)but not all. I have tried everything from facet block steroid injections(to rule out the neck), accupuncture, chiro, cafergot pills and codiene etc. I drink large amounts of diet cola 3-4 litres a day and am wondering if anyone else here has found aspartime causes them headaches or know anything about this link. I recently cut my intake back to 1/2 litre because of reading of the dangers and possible links to migranes.

That much caffiene cannot be good for you as well as the dangers with the aspartame. Read one of my posts about some of the various drugs that you may want to ask your doc about to help prevent or lessen the severity of your migraines. As for the cola................ummmmmmm I would definately cut back more than you already have. If you are drinking that much soda are you getting enough water in between the soda?? Excess caffiene is hard on your kidneys heart, nervous system and a lot more.

Hi Mlgable,
Thanks for your advice. I am slowly weening myself off all caffeine and aspartime. Just finding it tough. I will read your other post also. What about the caffeine in cafergot(ergotamine, cafeine etc, migrnae drug, on old one). This may prove more difficult and I'm sure it gives me rebound migranes.

mel,
I found out a long time ago that I need to stay away from caffeine (no more espresso for me) and aspartame. If you listen closely to your body you may find other things you need to stay away from. I also try to stay away from MSG and recently have to keep away from bacon (I love bacon!) Seems there is always something.
Glad to hear you are weening yourself off caffeine and aspartame. Good luck to you, You can do it!!!

Aspartame definetly triggers migraines in me. It is not a good substance to consume. I quit drinking/eating diet/light products. You would be amazed at the number of products this stuff is in. It greatly reduced the number of migraines I was having. Good luck.

Aspartame has also been noted to produce other symptoms too that are MS/lupus etc in nature. I just had an email a few days ago about the nasty things it can do to your body.

Hi everyone,
Well now I am nearly off all aspartime. I really have probs stopping coffee but as my headaches are daily and migranes once a week I will do anything for some releif. I am taking lots of magnesium, feverview and fish oil omega 3's which seem to help. I also am now off msg as I beleive this is a problem. Like Vicki said listening to your body can be helpful. I am also trying no wheat so lets see how it goes. I am so fed up with pain but I do beleive the body wants to heal itself so I will persevere. Does anyone find B2 helpful?
