Hi friends,' OK, I have this creamy white (or yellowish) coating on my tongue, no soreness or bleeding. Sometimes I have a burning sensation, it smells bad and a "yucky" taste in my mouth. Have a history of Post Nasal Drip. How does one know if this "sewer breath" is from PND, thrush or GERD. I do use a cortisone nasal spray and asthma inhaler. Tania IP: Logged |

I have the same thing. My dental hygenist (sp?) told me to just brush my tongue every time I brush my teeth. Sorry that wasn't much help. [This message has been edited by Aliehs (edited 10-10-2003).] IP: Logged |

If you have a white coated tongue you have what is called Thrush. It is a yeast infection of the mouth. Babies get it alot as well as anyone on lots of antibotics or a messed up immune system. The fast cure is also the messiest. Thrush is treated with something called Gentian Violet. You can ask you pharmicist for it. It isn't prescription, but they usually don't keep it on the shelf because it comes in such a tiny bottle that is easily stolen. It costs under $3. Beware it will stain your tongue and if you aren't careful your teeth, the bathroom counter or anything else you get it onto... a deep purple. This is cure used on babies otherwise you will have to get an antifungal pill from doctor. If it gets on your teeth, your dentist can get it off for you will the proper tools, so don't worry its not permanent. IP: Logged |
