Two weeks ago I went to Cleveland Clinic for a tilt table test. When I was titlted at 70 degrees, my pulse rate went down to 37. However, my EEG was normal, I possibly may have epilepsy bu that's up to my neurologist. Is there anyone who can tell me more about sinus arrhythmia, normotension, and bradycardia. Those were written on my findings. My biggest concern is that the cardiologist wants me to take levsin and it seems like it may be a heavy duty drug. I also take 300 mg of dilantin and 100 mg of zoloft. I'm beginning a new school year with my pupils Tues. and I want to have a good year without the side effects. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Smitty

How's it going Smitty. First of all, just to let you know, your tilt table result is not necessarily bad. Even if you took the best athlete with the healthiest heart in the world, he or she would have changes in the heart rate and stuff when on the tilt table.

I'm not sure what you were asking about those terms...I'll explain them to you, if you already know what they mean, sorry, I'm not trying to patronize you.

Sinus arrythmia - just refers to any rhythm where the normal pacemaker of the heart is still operating, but somewhat erratically.

normotensive - normal blood pressure (this is VERY encouraging...if you were having problems with blood pressure on the table, it would have been indication of some problem with your heart)

bradycardia - this indicates that the sinus arrythmia (irregular rhythm) they noted was a slow arrythmia as opposed to a fast arrythmia (i.e. tachycardia).

Let me ask you a question...why did you go for the tilt table test? Were you fainting a lot? Answer me that and then I'll explain some more.

First of all, thank you for answering me. The reason why I went for the tilt table was that I seemed to have numerous small seizures. I had an episode at Cleveland while in the epilepsy monitorinig unit, my heart rate dropped very low, but no abnormal brain waves. What may seem like epilepsy could be bradycardia.
I am very concerned about the medications the cardiologist wants to prescribe though. Thanks projapoti. I appreciate your response.
