I was thinking the other day how helpful it would be if there was a test that would tell someone if they were contagious at any particular moment. If someone has blisters then they know they are, however, viral shedding is difficult to pinpoint. How convenient (and safe) it would be if you could just give yourself a test prior to having sex. If the test shows positive then you'd know this upfront and you and your partner could make a intelligent decision based on the fact that you know you are contagious at this time. It would certainly curb the spreading of the virus. IP: Logged |

I completely agree with you, but unfortunately from what I understand, the only way to do that is to do a swab culture and that takes weeks to get the results from. I don't know if there are any research projects under way anywhere that aim at that, but it would be one heck of a money maker if someone found a way, wouldn't it?TheOneInFour IP: Logged |

There's always hope. The home pregnancy test was not even heard of a generation ago. But, there was a definite market for it, so scientists were able to justify funding the research to come up with such a product. Perhaps letting the right organization know that people need and are willing to pay for this type of home test, would get the research started. IP: Logged |

It's just not possible, though, at least as far as we know. Shedding seems to start almost from moment to moment, so, even just stepping out of a shower with lots of soap, shedding can begin again. IP: Logged |
