I started using oil of oregano sublingually (i.e. under my tongue) nine weeks ago, then added olive leaf extract three weeks ago. I haven't had an outbreak in that entire time. Normally I would get one every five weeks.

The oil of oregano seemed to work fine by itself. I added the olive leaf extract after reading about its effectiveness. At some point I will halt all treatment and see if I am "cured."

Hi GoP,

That's great that you're finding relief from symptoms with the essential oils. I'll have to add oregano to my list of alternative remedies to try.

Just to clarify... please be aware that an absence of symptoms doesn't mean you're "cured." I went on suppressive Acyclovir for a year or two and went without any OBs for many months after I stopped...until stress kicked me in the pants again. LOL So you may not get symptoms after stopping the treatment, but that doesn't mean the virus is gone or that you will never get OBs again. Also, you can still be contagious even without symptoms. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, just to put it in a little perspective.

Thanks for sharing your progress. Do keep us posted!

I believe that the oregano oil will kill the entire virus if given enough time. It kills it in a Petri dish (in a lab), and so it will kill it in the body as well (though it will take longer, as this particular virus likes to hide). Over the years, I've found that man-made substances are inferior to God-made substances.

A first century wise man said, "As you have believed, so be it unto you." If we believe that the virus can't be killed, then it probably won't be.

absolutely gatesofpearl, it will happen as long as YOU believe in it. it's important to be OPEN-minded, after all it is YOUR body and no one but YOU can help cure it. I, myself am planning to do a herbal treatment in a few weeks. So far, i've been using OLE and h-balm every once in a while but i haven't had outbreaks since my first. IT's wierd but i feel like i'll never see an outbreak again(hope i'm not jinxing myself ) ( they say about 80% of people have recurrent outbreaks) so why can't i be the exception. I think this is the type of attitude you need to have.
Best Wishes !

I'd also like to know where to buy oil of oregano, how much to take, and does it have a strong smell?

hey guys,

i came across a website with Dr. cass Ingram, he speaks about oil of oregano on an audio clip for like an hour. He spoke about what oil of oregano heals; one of which being herpes. I think one bottle is 30 bucks and you take it under tongue twice a day. Do a search with his name and you'll see.

I just bought Oil of Oregano the other day finally and Olive Leaf Extract, both in bottle form. Im anxious to hear some of your responses to the oregano. I bought it to keep my immune system up to schnuff because I got shingles several months ago. Also bought astragalus/shizandra complex which is another ayurvedic immune system builder. Anything that builds the immune system certainly can help the range of herpes across the board. Added grapeseed extract also.

Tried the oil or oregano under my tongue. Ouch! Nasty stuff. It would be hard for me to do every day, but if I have to I have to!!

I just love the natural approach to dealing with this virus.Maybe if more people turned to these natural suppresents we could put these shameful drug companies out of business; who's only real purpose is to make money off of people. oh and I bought echinecha ... fingers crossed. good luck to all

Regarding oil of oregano, I mainly use Dr. Cass Ingrams' formula, but others work also. You only need a few drops under the tongue, twice a day. The taste is INTENSE! Whoa ...

The Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) I use is made fresh to order. It can be found on the internet. Do a search through Google and you should find it. (I'd give the brand name, but I don't want to violate any message board policies.)

The OLE has cut my sleep time by 1.5 hours. The energy boost is real.

I've been on the oil of oregano for over 10 weeks now. Still no outbreaks. Dr. Cass Ingram claims the oil will kill the virus in 30 to 90 days. We'll soon see.

hey gates,

I have a question for you since this has been baffling me.. let's say you get tested soon to see if herpes has left your system, will it still be possible to detect antibodies... do antibodies stick around even if the virus is no longer in your system? or do they go away with the virus?.. I wish someone could answer this question.

Not sure about antibodies. But I plan to get tested in early July, so we'll see.

Not only have I not had any breakouts while on the oil, but I no longer have that weird tingling sensation I used to get. This oil is great!

Hopeful: Antibodies stay in your bloodstream forever. So, if there is a cure for herpes, it's impossible to prove. In clinical trials, the only measure of effectiveness is "frequency and severity" of outbreaks. I've always said that I think there is a cure right now, probably at our local health food store. There has been a lot of buzz here about OLE and oil of oregano, and I've just gone a whole year without an OB after an aggressive (and controversial) "oxygenation" treatment. Mother nature can take care of us, if we let her LOL.

Hey, congrats on your success with Oil of Oregano and Olive Leaf Extract. It really sounds like it could be a really good remedy. After reading your post I think I'm gonna try to get some myself. My only question is where exactly can I find the stuff besides the internet, and also how do I know how much to take of each? I really wanna give these natural approaches a fair shot, I just need to know the right way. If any of you guys out there can help, please post to let all of us know.
One more thing, I just want to thank all you out there posting your comments and thoughts about having this problem. Since reading up on other peoples input, I truly feel MUCH less alone in the whole thing. Thanks to all of you out there for being so strong and open about it, it's just the attitude we need to fight this. Thank you all so much again.

Nonexist--

How did you receive the oxygenation treatment? I am considering it in the future if all else fails...I just want to know what you went through in more detail--where you had it done (professionally, self-applied), etc. Please let me know! THANKS!!!

With the lack of education in the medical community about oxygen treatments, it was impossible to get it done in my province. So, being desperate I bought some 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and steam distilled water. I mixed 3 drops of H2O2 in a cup of water and drank it 3 times a day. I increased the drops by 1 per day until I hit 25 and continued for 2 weeks, then gradually decreased and stopped over the remaining few weeks. 35% H2O2 will burn your skin on contact, blind you instantly if the tiniest splash gets in your eyes, and kill you if you drink it straight (the cautionary note I read said you'll get to watch it pour out of your belly button before you die!). One of the biggest proponents of H2O2 therapy, Dr. Charles Farr, advises against this method, saying it can be corrosive on your stomach in any concentration (he is fighting for intravenous H2O2 treatment). Other equally qualified doctors disagree, one being a Dr. Kurt Donsbach.

While I was drinking this repulsive tasting mixture, I was applying the regular 3% "drugstore" H2O2 topically to the site of OBs and to my spinal cord. I covered this with DMSO, which dissolved the H2O2 and transported it through the flesh to the nerve ganglion. The idea being that H2O2 would kill the virus on contact, which it has been proven to do. The controversy here is that DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) will take anything it touches into your tissues with it. It will dissolve a copper penny until your left with the zinc core.

I believe that without one or both of these experimental treatments, I would have had many more Obs in the past year (I had none!). but, you gotta do your research, listen to both sides, and make an informed decision. I'm somewhat of a daredevil anyway (as a teen, I used jump my motorcycle over rows of other kids in the neighborhood, LOL.)

The medical establishment doesn't want you to be cured. They are making too much money selling people suppressive therapy for life. The billions of $$$ they give to gov't for campaigns is enough to have policies affected in their favour (in Canada, names and amounts of contributions are public info, thanks to our Freedon of Information Act). I don't know about you, but the thought of suffering through the rest of my life with herpes just so some CEOs can have a garage full of Ferraris is NOT acceptable. These same treatments are applicable to AIDS as well, so this little money game is killing people.

OK, sorry about the length - but my passion runs high on the subject. The best thing would be if you could find a clinic offering IV H2O2.

Thanks so much for this thread. I'm going to head to some stores to look for OLE and OOO. Are capsules of OOO just as effective as the liquid? Does anyone notices differences of OLE between the liquid and tablet form? Are these liquids swallowed from the droplets or added with other liquids?

Hey Nonexist,
I know you said that antibodies are around forever when you get herpes, but I was wondering since it takes about 3-4 months for antibodies to produce themselves , what happens if the virus is killed before then by Herbs?... one to think about huh?....
Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!!

Hmmmm, the answer to that runs way beyond my knowledge. But, I have read in a few places that people have tested negative for antibodies and actual virus after a previous postive. Supposedly this was a result of using BHT. This was on a website about the man who wrote "Wiping Out Herpes with BHT".

Me, I'd like to keep my herpes antibodies after I'm cured. It might give me a little stronger defence against getting it again.

Hmm...Can't they measure viral shedding? If the virus is in fact cured from the body, yes antibodies will still be present in a blood test, but it should be possible to prove the virus is gone if there is no shedding. The virus sheds constantly even when dormant--from what I believe--but if it is killed somehow, couldn't they measure if viral shedding is present or not??

~~just wondering~~

I know there is a way to cure this...

Hey Ricky

have faith in it. I've had herpes for alomost 3 1/2 months but only had the first primary breakout which lasted about 3 weeks. Since the first i've been OB free. But during the time I have experimented with H-balm, OLE. Now I'm just taking echinechea and OOO. The OOO i bought liquid form because tablets tend to lose their potency during the digestive process. I think the liquid form hits the bloodstream more directly. Good luck Ricky

I really want to know more about this Olive Leaf Extract and Oil of Oregano stuff.......why do you take it in liquid form guys? Is it not as effective in Capsule? And why exactly does it work.
I got Herp about 3 years ago and i've only had about 4-5 OB 's in that entire period, which i'm thankful for. Also on a side note I am a vegitarian.......which to me personally makes me believe that being a healthier diet it limits the number of OB's I have had. I haven't had one in about a year which is awsome. I go to the gym as much as I can and maintain a healthy vegetarian diet, I highly recomend it to anyone suffereing from alot of OB's. But seriously.....how does this OOO and OLE work. Where can I get it?
Can I get it at any drug/health store? I'd really like to know more about it. I have never EVER heard about it, and even the possibility of destroying this ***** of a virus would be incredible. Please let me know how it works.
And on a cheerier note, I have found that the less you think about it and the longer you have it the less OB's you will have. Like I said. I haven't had one in over a year.

I started to take OLE since i started my 2nd OB.
Basically, is just herbs that help boost Ur immune system. the better ur immune system, the lest likely ur OB is going to be. As u said, u are vegetaria, so that might explain ur less freqent OB.
OOO, is suppose to be more effective to take it under the tongue. I dont know, but the taste doesnt bother me too much and it goes away fast. Just try two droolets at first. I tried 3 last nice, and **** bunrs!
If u gonna use it externally, mixed with Olive oil, to delute it some.

Howdy. I'm the joker who started this thread. :-)

I'm still on the oil of oregano (sublingually--under the tongue) and the olive leaf extract (capsules). I have had no outbreaks for 3 1/2 months now (used to get them every five weeks). When I run out of the stuff--probably in three or four weeks--I'm going to stop all treatment and see what happens.

I feel great! No symptoms whatsoever. Not even tingling. Am I "cured?" We will see. I was going to go get tested, but now I think I'll just wait and see what happens. :-)

And, yes, liquids are generally more effective than capsules or tablets; they are more easily assimilated into the bloodstream.

P.S. By the way, as I stated in an earlier post, the oregano oil worked all by itself; I added the olive leaf later "just in case."

I decided to bring this topic up again because I really think OLE and/or OOO is working for me. As some of you might remember, I was having back-to-back, overlapping severe recurrances from my intial OB until about two weeks ago. For the past two weeks I have had fairly regular tingling and redness. Yesterday only a little. Today? None. I really believe I am starting to get a handle on this.

I take OOO, OLE, Lysine and a multi-vitamin every day. At first, I thought they were doing nothing. Then after about three weeks (when I supplemented the marvelous H-Balm and topical RMA), I started to notice a difference. The only time I felt a real OB coming on was the one time I forgot to take my OLE. Throughout the course of this herbal treatment, my OBs went from raging nightmares to mild tingling.

This week I began taking Transfer Factor and a beta glucan complex. I don't know it they are in part responsible, but I haven't felt this good since the initial. Still not perfect, but I'm confident I'm on my way. Three months after I got this thing, I might actually even have sex with my boyfriend tonight. :-)

Starting next week, I am slowly going to start removing things from my regimen and see what happens. I hope to isolate what works.

Anyway, there's a little bit promising news about herbals. Hope it helps.

Coopsie~

What is topical RMA? Transfer Factor? Beta Glucan complex? I guess I could look them up but I'm too tired and lazy today.

Like you many herbal supplements etc. have made my symptoms go from severe/constant to mild. And having sex w/ your boyfriend will make you feel SOOOO good!! It makes you feel quite "normal" again.

Good luck w/ everything...

I've used H-Balm and found it does help some of the time. I get OBs on my buttocks which are very serious and stubborn, and the H-balm didn't work at all for that OB location. But I've used it on smaller OB lesions around the vulva area and found it very effective for them -- fast healing and even preventing OBs I could feel coming on in that area.

H-Balm has worked very well for me. On the other hand, I only ever (so far) have OBs in the vaginal area -- never any on my butt or legs.

The topical RMA is made from Red Marine Algae and is meant for cold sores. I bought it at Whole Foods. It is a little pot of balm that has a very strong soothing effect. I like it because it doesn't smell as strong as the H-Balm, which isn't unpleasant, but is definitely potent.

I have tried Choraphor, but I can't really say it has worked for me. In all fairness, it does supposedly have its best effects when a blister has reached its worst point. Because mine never get to the blister point anymore (yay!), I haven't given it a fair shot yet.

As for the transfer factor and Immune Stimulator, the first is made up of colostrom and the second is made up of beta glucans. It's hard to know whether they are working or not, but there are reports of success with them, so i think it's worth trying.

Yes. I am wondering the same exact thing. Does it agitate the virus when you start taking it....by this I mean do you exp. tingling or get an OB when you start taking OLE or OOO because the virus is being disturbed/cured..????

Troubled: A lot of the people here have been experiencing symptoms when beginning OLE and OOO. It dfepends on whether your body's elimination systems can eliminate the virus as fast as these herbs are flushing them out of its hiding place. If the healing reaction is severe, you should lower your doses and increase them back up gradually.

I myself have been taking OLE for 2 weeks and OOO for a week, and I've had skin eruptions, a typical healing reaction. The interesting thing is, I was half expecting to get an OB down below and the fact that I haven't is one more piece of evidence that I've eliminated the virus from that area. The skin eruptions have been on my face and I think it may be herpes, but they don't resemble cold sores and are not on my lips. When I was treating myself with topical H2O2 and DMSO, I did not apply it to my face or the top of my spine where the virus would be.

By the darn, I think I cured myself in one location, or at least sent it into such remission that OLE and OOO couldn't stir it up enough to cause an OB

I'm more certain than ever that we do not have to live with herpes.

Jumping in on this...

The OLE and Oregano sound exciting - are either/both of these available at GNC? And as for the taste, when I have taken Grapefruit Seed Extract in the past for sore throats, I pour a little cup of Coke and mix the droplets in. Plugging the nose helps too...that's about 80% of taste.

Although once you unplug it...

I used both the well-known Oreganol formula of Oil of Oregano and also Zand's formula. The Zand's formula was much milder, but still gave me great results. Whatever brand you try, just make sure you hold it under your tongue for 2-3 minutes. And don't overdo the dosage! Believe it or not, OOO is very toxic in large amounts. Most essential oils are.

And OOO is not quite as nasty as grapefruit seed extract. It's strong, don't get me wrong, but you don't want to mix it with anything else. Straight under the tongue is the only way to go.
