In my opinion, these things might help you. Try changing to a natural healthy diet. You can look at starting a light to moderate exercise program. There are a number of herbs you can research too, like Damiana, Ginseng, and Sarsaparilla.

Avoid excessive alcohol, smoking, and refined processed foods. Before you review herbal therapy, changing to an acceptable diet and exercise level is important first.

Also being happy and satisfied with your life in general is important too. I hope this helps.

actually in one of my classes something along these lines came up and what was recommended was to become more familiar with your own body and what gives you pleasure - not just on a physical level - and then to explore with your partner the different ways you could both stimulate each other.

Hi Talley, I have posted a topic under the women sexual health forum today entitled "Viacreme." This stuff is really great. The first time or two I tried it, I really didn't feel any different, but now it has really helped with me and my hubbie's sex life! Hope this helps.

Hi Talley,

I suffered with the same problem for over 15 years. It started when I was on birth control pills and just went downhill even after I stopped them. I've tried everything under the sun. All the usual herbs, supplements, doctor visits. My hormones test normal and I don't have any of the usual psychological culprits. What finally helped me was something so simple. Fish oil. I don't totally understand the why of it, but I have a theory. Fish oil contains certain fatty acids that are used by the body to create prostaglandins. Certain protaglandins are involved in vasodilation, which is a key component in sexual functioning. Subjectively speaking, I've noticed that I didn't ever get engorged with blood "down there" like I used to when I had strong sex drive. More engorgement seemed to equate with quick and easy orgasms too and they certainly hadn't been quick or easy--when I bothered to try. My theory is that I had a deficiency induced by the birth control pills that I was never able to catch up with because my diet is low in these fatty acids. I know they can induce B vitamin deficiencies so perhaps there is some interplay there. I have yet to find this concept mentioned anywhere, but it seems logical to me. The important thing is it worked for me when nothing else did and the doctors were all dismissing it as being "in my head". Just something to think about if nothing else works for you.

Nancy - your experiences sound very familiar and I suspect I am following your trail somewhat. The fish oil certainly sounds like its worth a try.

Do you mean just a supplement of fish oil - what type? All I know of is cod liver oil - are there other types that would be better in this case?

Thanks so much.

I just wanted to say that I had trouble with taking my fish oils, burped them up for hours. I found out if I take them on an empty stomach with a glass of water if flushes them though to the intestines where they dissolve without the burping. I take the code liver oil,but have been thinking to switch to a diff. fish oil. What kind do you take Nancy S.

The fish oils you are talking about are Essential Fatty Acids and they are critical for homone regulation. If you're having problems taking them I suggest you go to a natural or organic or whole foods store and buy the liquid form. It should be in the refrigerated section and you should keep it in the fridge. The one I use has flax seed oil, borage oil, and evening primrose oil. I pour a tablespoon into a small glass of carrot juice (but try any good fruit or veggie juice) and then I take the rest of my vitamins & supplements with that before dinner. Your body absorbs and utilizes vitamins & supplements better in the evening, and since these are fat soluble, should be taken with food.
Good luck!
