: Hi. I just went to a pharmacy store and bought a 908g bottle of Whey Protein. It's company is "MAXIMUS NATURAL SPORT".
: I was looking for some protein supplements, cuz I want to bulk up about 10-15 pounds of muscle and build some definition, and I've been working out 6 days a week for the past few months.
: The Protein supplement I got was the cheapest one in the store. It doesn't even look like this company has a website. Has anyone else heard about this company?
: Is the Whey Protein powder safe to use if I'm only 17?
: And in case you wanted to know, here's the nutrition label:
: Serving Size: 40 grams
: Energy: 150 calories/628 kJ
: Protein: 21 grams
: Fat: 1.5 grams
: Carbohydrates: 14 grams
: Also, how much protein do I need a day, if I'm 5'6", 136 lbs, workout 6 days a week?
Protein is the main ingredient necessary to build the muscle you desire. At a 136 pounds, I would suggest approximatley 0.9 to 1.1 grams orf protein per pound 122 to 149 grams a day. Note, among the fitness industry Whey protein is touted as being the best as concerns Bio-Availability (the bodies abiity to absorb and utilize the protein) However, do not rely on the whey to meet the requirements. As like all things, a balance is necessary. Try adding a few glasses of skim milk a day (caesin protein - 8 gms per 8 oz.) Thw whey has a quick absorption while the caesin is sustained through-out the day. Be sure to drink the whey with-in one hour of your work-out. It will not happen over night, but it will work. Enjoy your growth !
