I have used both products and can help answer your question
OPC-3: Basically OPC-3 is a powerfull blend of natural ingredients (Grape Seed Extract 25 mg; Red Wine Extract 25 mg; Pine Bark Extract 25 mg; and Bilberry Extract) containing bioflavenoids and Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins. Basically that is the stuff in anti-oxidents that trully give it the anti-cancer and healing properties that it has. Truthfully, unless you go around eating nothing but veggies and fruit all day, this stuff would likely be beneficial to you as well (being that we just do not it enough good food, and typically eat too much bad).
Thermochrome: I am a little more leary of this stuff. While it has been in use for years, and has not resulted in any complaints that I know about, It is basically HERBS which are supposed to optimise your metabolism, etc. I was not interested in the product because I do not need to lose weight (something I believe is the prime marketing factor), and I am more interested in health and nutrition, rather than taking pills for limited objective such as loosing weight/energy. The ingredients on the label are all natural, but do contain exotic sounding herbs. IT DOES SEEM SAFE, but I am not sure it is necessary for health. I have taken Thermochrome, and did not notice any results one way or another. An important note: I believe the original product "Thermochrome" was banned in the state of Ohio for containing naturally occuring "ephedrine", my understanding is that the ban was a result of diet products hitting the market loaded with ephedrine, and the amount in thermochrome was quite negligable, but included in the ban regardless. The product is back in the market place under the lable "Thermochrome Select". AGAIN, it seems as if Thermochrome is a safe product based on how long it has been on the market.
Conclussion...encourage the OPC-3, it can not hurt anyone, (it has been used in experimental clinics for fighting cancer) and could very well guard against disease. But I would suggest your granddad ask a doctor about Thermochrome.
Hope this helps
