Everyone's physiology is different, certain diets work for some, while others work better for other people.
If you are trying to drop weight quickly, then do a No Carb, or Low-carb diet for about two weeks. Such as the Atkins, or ketogenic diet. However; don't follow Atkins' advice on eating protein with lots of saturated fats. Try eating cleaner sources like poultry, fish, whey protein, fat-free dairy sources, etc.
If you follow that diet you're talking about, you are most likely NOT going to lose much weight. If you are not active and you still eat a lot of carbs, then it will keep you overweight.

Eat clean! Lots of veggies and fruit, and clean protein. It's a simple equation. And for God's sake... do some kind of activity that has you moving for about 30-40 mins 4 times a week. Break a sweat. If you're too lazy to workout, then take a thermogenic supplement to help expend extra calories.
