: : : : I tried extreme low fat dieting. I did initially lose weight. Then I stopped losing, so I decreased my intake. Still couldn't lose, so I decreased more and more and exercised a lot. It got to where I was walking 3 miles a day, doing aerobics, and eating (no lie!) no more than 500 calories and maybe 5 grams of fat a day, and I still couldn't lose because my body was now in starvation mode and my metabolism had about shut down. So I gave up on the low fat and went to low carb, and that worked better for me. Low fat works well for some people. Make sure you don't starve yourself like I did.
: : : : I'm not sure about the French eating low fat. I've heard the opposite, that they eat a diet quite rich in fat, with rich sauces and liberal use of real butter.
: : : -I've done locarb to lose 65 lbs... can't seem to lose anymore, someone said I should try this low fat, no animal fat very very lean meat and no milk?? said nothing about reducing calories like U did!! thanx
: : I have been doing a low fat diet with a calorie intake of no more than 1600/day and I have lost 16 pounds. I don't starve myself. I am conscious of the carbs/sugar, but I concentrate more on fat. I eat a lot of salad, low fat yogurt, cottage cheese, veggies, lean meat, etc.
: -------how long has it taken u??,,do u feel good??
Hi. It has taken me about 2 months, but I DON'T have a regular exercise routine. I am sure if I worked out regularly, the weight would come off faster. I feel pretty good, other than the fact that drinking the 80+ ounces of water per day makes me pee all night long..lol. Basically, I have just reduced my portions of food, and kept what I do eat at a low fat level. I usually don't consume more that 20 grams of fat/day. If you want to know how many calories you need to lose weight here is what you do:
Take the weight you WANT to be and if you are female multiply by 14 and if you are male, multiply it by 16. That will give you the total calories you need to reach your goal. Good luck and I hope this helps.
