: Does anyone have experience with success on the Carbohydrate Addicts diet who also have hypoglycemia. I have a severe problem with this and I am afraid of not having carbs in the morning, will I have my dizziness if there are no carbs? I have a friend who swears by this diet, but she was only moderately hypoglycemic. I need to lose 35 pounds, I keep gaining because I eat to keep my glucose up. The doctor says I am severely hypoglycemic which is probably preceding diabetes down the road soon. Help!
It's the carbs that you are eating that are ultimately causing the low bloodsugar (hypoglycemia). The problem is hyperinsulinemia, i.e. your body is producing too much insulin for a given amount of carbohydrate intake. This leads to low bloodsugar levels several hours after eating a carbohydrate meal. The answer is to limit the intake of carbohydrates which will stabilize your insulin and bloodsugar levels. Get a copy of any of the low carb diet books such as Dr. Atkins or Protein Power and you should end up with levelized bloodsugar and loss of fat if you follow the plans as prescribed. Alan S.
